Got this aftershave in the 100ml spray bottle, with box. Love Jules EDT, but don't have a bottle yet (just a dwindling sample). Hard to find for a good price. Seemed that nobody was keenly interested in the aftershave, so got it for under $50 USD.

Well, I didn't last long. I saw two Ciro minis, New Horizons and Reflexions, for $6.99 each on the 'bay and felt obliged to rescue them ;-)

    Thanks, glad to hear it!

And in kind, congrats to Avecesar on the Derby aftershave! I've also heard it's very close to the edt.

Also, I just received this yesterday:

Perfect scent match to the spray bottle I have, and I find it so much better than the current release. Incidentally, that splash bottle has a cut glass stopper with tough plastic plug that seals nicely. The "pyramid" theme is echoed in the bottle, with raised shallow pyramids on front and back. Much nicer aesthetics over the spray bottle (which comes with a very cheap thin plastic cap).

Very nice acquisition. I love Third man and hope some day to find a vintage bottle for myself like that. I have so many wants right now.

OK, I know what you're thinking. But no... it's a factice. Glass one though. Could be used for the real liquid. Something else was used that left a white residue inside that will require a makeshift implement to clean. In any case, this is just a very cool bottle. Not sure I'll keep it, but for any major Dunhill Blend 30 aficionado, I'm sure this would be eye catching.

    Another call for MacGyver skills!

Bavard shared a Blend 30 decant with me, and it was damned fine stuff. Super suave.

And man oh man, I really, really want one of those Third Man pyramid bottles. One of my top 5 male scents.

Easy way to clean bottles (and vases): fill with hot water and drop in a tablet or two of denture cleaner. Let it fizz away and soak, then check to see whether any further agitation is necessary. If so, get agitated. Or just do it again.

Thanks for the tip. I could never have guessed denture cleaner as a bottle cleaner

LOL. Blend 30 is definitely a fine, suave leather fragrance. One of my favorites, right up there with vintage Bel Ami!

Have you experienced both the vintage and later releases of 3eme Homme?

I got lucky today in a consignment shop. Seven minis by Yves Rocher (8e Jour, Aztec, Antartic, Desir de Nature, Ispahan, Orchidee, and original Venice) in a bag for $12. Then another bag for $16 with such oddballs as Evyan Most Precious, 3 more I've never heard of, and oh by the way, an unopened 1970s-80s 1/4 oz of Chanel No. 5.

No, I've only smelled my modern bottle, purchased in 2015. Please don't tell me the vintage is infinitely superior..... I have so many geese to chase already.

2002 Fahrenheit picked up for $103. I've only seen it that low once before, and I missed the bid by barely 10 seconds last time. On the bright side, I did discover Armani Eau Pour Homme after missing that bid.

You're welcome. Something else my mother taught me, and I should have added above after "further agitation is necessary":
if you need to scrub the inside of something inaccessible, put some uncooked rice in it along with your cleaning solution, and shake or swirl it until clean.

Mink, you should have your own advice column.

If I want to use my coffee grinder for something other than coffee, I grind a handful of raw rice in it first, then wipe it out. Rice: your kitchen cleaning secret.

Just arrived today! These are my first impressions:
    Vintage: softer, more herbal opening
Current extract: more bracing, lemony opening

Vintage: Animal facets are softer, more rounded
Current: the stronger lemon gives that faintly sour organic smell that I really don't mind, it's just absent in the vintage

Vintage: overall, softer, smoother, more powdery and way more animalic
Current: still love it with all of my heart, just a bit bolder and sharper, much more lemony

Well, I am thrilled that I have this! I am also thrilled at how much I still love the current formula.
When I bought the current extract, I had already tried the bolder EdP and I love it. The current extract is softer and more vanilla heavy than the EdP. However, this vintage extract makes the current extract feel like the EdP by comparison, if that makes sense.

Yes, I'm relieved. It also validates my suspicion that I probably don't have a good enough nose to differentiate between old and new formulas which is a relief, because I'd hate to discover that I can only love vintage, especially if it's a hard to get one. *whew!*
