That 2005 bottle was my first vetiver fragrance ever. I purchased it at Nordstrom in 2005 after sampling it there. I used the entire bottle. I need to get another bottle. I do own a bottle from before the recent changes with the silver cap. Great stuff!

Every time I think about seeking one, I break out in hives and feel like I should take a post-graduate seminar in all the various formulations. Then I just give up and make a sandwich. I can hardly even speak the words "Habit Rouge" out loud.

Thankfully, I don't really much care for most of the Guerlain feminines.

Guerlain feminines imho are way better crafted than the masculines - vtg Samsara is a sandalwood journey, Jicky is a beautiful animalic and so many more that the list is endless. Suggest you try their pure parfum concentrations if possible.

    That someone was me
and that 08-14 is ballpark as I do not have all the batches with me . I would stay pre 2006 to be absolutely sure. Or post 2014. But vintage is going to be better than post 2014. Just avoid those middle years.
The reformulation they did in that time frame was bad. The later batches were much better. And that time frame rule is for all Guerlains I have had the opportunity to test and compare - Heritage, Samsara, Vetiver. And so I am assuming it applies to most Guerlains.

As for Vetiver, I like EDC the best. As for edt, earlier version the better.

Oh, I have no quarrel with their quality. I respect and admire them. I just don't want to wear them. There's something in that Guerlainade base that doesn't suit me -- with the exception of Jicky, Vol de Nuit, and Mitsouko.

Their masculines appeal to a certain louche part of my nature.

Another screenshot for the shopping file. I should have known to go to The Source. Thank you, O Enemy of Galbanum.

It sure would be interesting to know what went wrong at Guerlain during that '08-'14 era.

I seldom go for auctions because knowing a price is easier to budget around (even if potentially higher) when you don't have a bottomless pit of money to work with. Also yes, ALL HAIL THE COOK.BOT!

I haven't tried the CdG Parfum, so unable to compare. Yet to try the J Casanova...

I put one spray each of Pour Monsieur and Sybaris. Great oakmoss and perfectly intact top notes on the PM. As for the Sybaris, it's reminding me of an 80's fragrance I have, not sure if it's close to French Line or something else. Just that all my bottles barring about 20 are in storage, so can't compare and it's been almost a year since I tried those from my collection...

My shopping brought some surprise at the prices the vintage EDC is commanding. So I bought two vintage minis -- I figured 8mls would be enough to decide if it deserved to replace my contemporary GV.

Sybaris has the musky animalic profile of Kouros and Lapidus, but does it more of a semi-oriental way with sandalwood and mandarin, like a mashup of Kouros and something like Chanel PM EdTC in my opinion.
