Congrats on your finds! It's okay to slip, one picks oneself up and...well, sees what happens.I'm on a buying hiatus right now myself, but temptations abound!
Continuing with what Badarun started.
I bought a few. This was supposed to be a no frag month (quarter/half year) but I slipped.

Tiffany for Men is my most recent. Shame it's only a 50ml, but it is a really awesome fragrance inside and out!
How dare you doubt Purecaramel on BelAmi
It is May 1986 Vintage

That is a great buy. I am still looking for one. Tiffany is confusing for vintage fans due to inconsistencies with bottle design and it is hard to find one with box (which can be a dead give-away)

Honestly, it they aren't that different from current. I tried the most recent version in a store (almost completely clear juice). The opening was awful, I'll say that much. But a maximum of 20mins in and the gorgeous dry down was all there in its glory. On a card, the current lasted a whole week.

Broke my rule on vintages - I never buy used, but the price was too good to miss & I'm glad I bought it - a 1990's version, more than 80% full bottle - 50ml spray Egoiste - for just 75 (I know some are laughing thinking I'm saying this as cheap - but Canadians would understand- getting good priced vintages here for cheap is very difficult)...

We should close this thread - no other buy from any other BN will beat this...
I think I will have to agree with you with some caveats.
I tested 3 versions on paper. Vintage, New and semi vintage(gold collar with cologne)
Opening of new is not as good. Synthetic and sharp. Vintage is the best but semi-vintage is not far behind.
And then they begin to converge. Very similar in the heart phase.
Drydown is where vin and semi-vin are identical and great but new one is not that off. But after a few hours new one dies but the others continue smelling great.
SO if you cant find vintage, get the new one and reapply after 6 hours

So September was supposed to be no buy month and has become the MOST buy month.
No more till 2017 (barring birthday gifts)
A basenoter, who shall remain unnamed, has promised to change his avatar to photo of his bare-ass if I do not buy any till 2017.

SO he does not have to change his avatar.
I caved. Like Rum.
Yohji and Davidoff are A/S.
Emeraude was bought in heat of the moment
OF the 3 in Lanvin Eau Collection 2 were bought this month and one was bought a few months ago.
I do like this Eau vintage line. It is more wearable.

ALSO Mods I was thinking of making this year based thread since we do not have enough posts to justify new thread each month. If you agree please merge this thread with older threads

^^^ Davidoff's a super pick from all those - one of the best masculines & obviously the best from Davidoff in my books.
Forgot to post this here last week - couldn't be happier![]()
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.

Only slightly - Tiffany is a woody / spicy / powdery oriental whereas EB comes across as more of an oriental fougere. Both are smooth and deftly executed but the castoreum in Ettore Bugatti gives the composition more of an animalic bite. I actually find far more similarities with Jicky although EB is (for me) infinitely more wearable.

Alright gents so I had to do a side by side cause from my memory they were similar.
The first few minutes of Bugatti are bad but then it comes out and yes I agree with you. There is something extra in there (castoreum as you said perhaps) that really makes me love it.

I normally stay clear on any discussion regarding notes / similarity etc, but I'll chime in for this. That too when good noses have already provided some thoughts.
I'm not a (huge) fan of Tiffany. But I absolutely love Parfum de Nicolai New York, introduced in the same year as the Tiffany. It betters Tiffany imho.
But the Bugatti tops both PdN NY & the Tiffany. It's much more complex but yet clear...
Any of you tried the Tiffany for men Concentree? I like this better than the regular as the powder is much lesser...

^^^ Another vintage that I've put off from buying for a few yrs - damn there are still so many![]()
Vintage Furyo in a trade. Oh this is lovely!! My dogs really like me wearing it. My wife not so much.
Vintage Paco Rabanne, Oh! What a blast from the Past! Dogs are indifferent. My wife says " What are u wearing? I really like that" Same reaction from the girls so many years ago! Mmm, gotta like that Oakmoss.
