Default Cedrat Boise by Mancera - blind buy?

    Hey guys,

If I like Aventus, Cedrat Boise by Mancera is a safe blind buy for me? I'm not looking for aventus clone, just did my research and it seems like a great scent with the vibe of aventus.

    Thanks.

IMO yes. Slightly sweeter and slightly more feminine but smells 80% like my sample of Aventus. (especially on top notes)

I agree. Perfectly safe as far as blind buys go.

It had the few good things Aventus had going for it, and none of the terrible things. To my nose CB is Aventus done right, though to be done right, it had to stray very far from what Aventus is, so it is more of a similar vibe, than an upgraded copy.

I do, as always, advise sampling, as perhaps you, like many other BN'ers, might like all the aspects of Aventus I find terrible.

I don't know...I bought a small sample of CB, and though I love Aventus, and was expecting to like CB, I just didn't.

The opening was good, but the drydown was too powdery and sickly-sweet for me.

I was not looking for an Aventus clone either as I already own Aventus and like it. Just the same as you, I was looking for something with a similar vibe but different enough to not be compared.

I can understand why people do compare them, the similar vibe is there, but I think only for the first hour or so. After that CB becomes something completely different.

I would recommend a sample first.

In my case it was a big hit (I got this gem blind in a trade with another Basenoter)!
Love the stuff which is compared to Aventus more fruity, fresher and woodier (no smokyness) but the drydown is one on its own and pretty different from Aventus..

    I'm actually blind-buying a 10ml decant and can't wait to try it.

i'd blind buy, but sample if possible too. definitely sweeter and more feminine leaning than aventus. but a perfect everyday, nice guy scent. occupies a similar slot in my wardrobe to ysl l'homme, but it's better than that, much richer.

They are really similar to me. A safe blind buy.

If you can afford it then by all means sure. Very nice scent.

Too sweet (in an artificial, plasticky way) for my taste and at some point indeed resambles a smell of a hair spray. I find some similarities with Aventus in the opening, though Cedrat Boise is much sweeter. I would advice sampling first.

I have decants of both. CB isn't at all smoky and it's sweeter, but there's enough similarity that if you like one you'll probably like the other, so I'd say yes it's a safe blind buy.

Aventus is more complex....a little mysterious and could probably be considered the sexier of the two . CB is cleaner, brighter and prettier for lack of a better word.

    Both worth having IMHO

Very similar to Aventus with better longevity. I do find CB to be slightly less smokey at first compared to the Aventus samples I've tried. Once you hit the later stages of CB it gets smokier. It's definitely good stuff at a decent price. Blind buy worthy in my opinion.

Yes. I highly doubt you'd be disappointed as long as you're not expecting it to beat out Aventus.

Exactly. It should be judged on its own merits.

Fantastic fragrance, and if you buy it and don't like it, it would be easy to sell it off and get your money back

Expecting it to beat Aventus is setting the bar a little low, most bargain bin fragrances do that just fine.

    No.

I like Aventus a lot. I'm glad I got a sample of Cedrat Boise because I didn't care for it.

I blind bought and 10 ml decant and liked it on the first wearings but now I find it a bit too sticky sweet.

I much prefer Aventus to it, although it does have better performance on me.

I like, not love, both and own both. They're about 60% similar in my book. So different enough.
