Default Esencia Loewe and Lubin Itasca

This isn't meant to be a comparison of two, but rather some feedback for those that are searching for a very nice Polo Green alternative. Itasca goes on bold and I can smell it tremendously for the first 5 seconds, but its unreal how quickly this quiets down to something less of a skin scent before fading into oblivion. While nice, I do get an ever so slight hamster cage feel from the cedar, though it is more tamed in this formulation than I've experienced in some others. It had a fougere tone about it and while I can see where someone might categorize it as in the Polo genre if you stretch a bit, to me they are very different. I was hoping to like this one more, but isn't bottle worthy for me. Performance was dismal.

Esencia on the other hand is glorious and would be the alternative to seek IMO. In fact, its in another class of its own and having a choice between this and Polo, I most certainly would go for Esencia. Fresh, Green, Masculine, Classic. For those that haven't experience it, get your hands on a sample. I'd like to know what you think!

Did you ever wind up getting yourself another bottle of this?

I did my friend. Just been getting in too late from work to post in the Today I Bought, thread. Guess I'll hop over there now. Tried very hard to get someone to ship the entire range to me, but was unsuccessful, so had to settle for amazing. A 150 ml spray and deodorant stick. Was gong to purchase the 200ml, deodorant spray, after shave. Thanks for asking

IMO Loewe Esencia vintage or new does not smell like Polo. Nothing does.
Itasca is more of a dark, incense vetiver with a green top.

Both are very good, but Itasca achieves greatness, something Esencia once achieved, but has since lost.

I just couldn't get anything green out of Itasca much. I have to try. Just got a blast of cedar before it quickly went to a skin scent. Maybe my sample is tainted? It came from Luckyscent. Not sure. My previous bottle of Esencia was glorious and much better than polo for my tastes. I suppose the original iteration of Polo could contend. I'll have to see what my new is about. I believe the seller is from Spain so hoping my bottle is fresh.

See if my description of the fragrance matches your experience. Its one of the few fragrances to get a BEST from me.
I get at least 7 hours from it. The Lubin house base seems to be a whispy musk and sandalwood. So it wouldnt be hard to lose track of it after a while if you used to heavier fragrances.

I agree with the others who have mentioned 7 hours from Itasca. I don't really consider it a very green fragrance per se. Just a hint.

Scentologist, I agree with you very much on Itasca's performance. So much so that I swapped my first bottle, then craving it later down the road, I had to buy it again. It's a shame how this one works on the skin, same with Fou d'Absinthe by L'Artisan, dunno if you've tried this, but if you love Itasca and Esencia, you will probably love this too. Both become skin scents fast, but they smell too good not to have. I bring a decant of these with me to reapply through the day.

Loewe Esencia is magnificent and should at least be sampled by everyone who likes their fragrances green and mossy. I have a vintage bottle, haven't smelled the current juice but I hear it's lacking in the oakmoss department, surprise surprise. On the plus side, older bottles were neither rare nor expensive last I looked.

The original Esencia is gorgeous. I don't want to try the new version now

I don't remember Itasca being much like it to be honest
