Default Greetings from The Netherlands: Intro by Fragrante Delicio

    Hi

I am Fragrante. My love affair with fragrance started a long time ago but lay dormant until last year when I visited London, along with my daughter, and had the chance to sample Harrod's many fragrant delights.

We went from one fragrant experience to another. Roja Dove, Stephane Humbert Lucas, Heeley, MFK, Byredo ....you get the idea.

This is where I discovered OUD, which is also the Dutch word for OLD. We pronounce it here as sound in LOUD, without the L of course.

But I found it was called UUUD and it brought back childhood memories from long time ago in India, as I have indian roots.

Since then I have spent many a happy hour browsing Basenotes and other interesting perfumery resources on the web. Ordering ingredients, making and mixing brews, and generally having a great time sniffing all time classics, and my own concoctions only a very few of which turned out to be "perfumey".

Though I have learnt much from experienced Basenoters like David Ruskin, Paul Kiler, Chris Bartlett and so many many others, I am still very much in the starter category, so any tips and suggestions are most welcome, and will be gratefully acknowledged.

I joined a couple of days ago, and hope that I am able to contribute and also accelerate my learning by being able to ask questions.

For those who may find it interesting to know, this is what my current list of ingredients (naturals + Aromachemicals) looks like:

    All the best

    Hi Hednic
Thanks for the welcome. I bought two from the Reyane Tradition line after reading your recommendations. The ones I have are Monsieur May H and Acqua Di Parisis Porto Fino.

That's an impressive list of ingredients to play around with. I'd be curious to get to know them to build up my fragrance vocabulary.

    Hi Bavard
Thanks. It has been a really interesting journey so far. Which ingredients are you familiar with?
I have been able to get some nice effects with Fir Absolute (.1%) and Rosa Damascena absolute (.5%), since I can replicate to some extent what smells "expensive" but the staying power is not so great.

I know some ingredients from being featured in perfumes: oak moss in vintage Chanel Pour Monsieur, cashmeran in Frederic Malle Dans Tes Bras.

Calone and norlimbanol are sometimes blamed for being the downfall of new releases, but not being sure what they smell like, it's hard to get in on the conversation.
