You're not the only ones. There is something in many Guerlains that doesn't sit well on my skin either. The slightly almondy tonka accord I think. I do admire many but just don't wear them. I forgot yesterday but have dug out the samples and am wearing a vintage Mitsouko now.... but aside from the pleasant powdery beginning, it's still doing the odd almond dance on me.

The classic ones can be difficult to place an appropriate setting to wear them. IMO it really just comes down to the mood of when and wanting to wear them. Some are easier than others though. For instance I can't tolerate Jicky since the lavender note really bothers me.

I've got a couple of choices that consist of houses from the US like Bond No 9 and Tom Ford but I think I might go for something more indie like Neil Morris.

It's probably got to be Tom Ford for me, although if it's cold enough I've got a couple of Slumberhouse scents too.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

So many choices! I was thinking about wearing something by Bond 9, but I have a dentist appointment first thing in the morning, so whatever I wear will probably be something light with low performance. Most Bonds tend to be pretty loud. I should wear something relaxing, since going to the dentist gives me anxiety.

Just remembered I have an original formulation bottle of Obsession...not sure I'll be brave enough to wear that tomorrow though, it's a monster! To think I used to spray it with abandon when I was 17 <cringes>

l had quite a few options for today, but l've gone with SJP's Stash. l bought this bottle months ago, but l've been saving it for autumn, & it feels just perfect right now.

l've already decided on my SOTE too, but l'll reveal that later...

I think this one is part of the "around the world" syncs and it is indeed North America. So you could do an American/Canadian house, or a scent from any house that simply makes you think of the region. Interpretations can be loose, of course! An autumnal scent would work well, too; the leaves are about to hit peak color here. Any way you'd like to interpret N. America will work fine, Ken!

Think I'll go for Dame Perfumery Rose de Mai. Could do Ava Luxe or Donna Karan, too. Or Zoologist samples. All my options sound good this morning so I'm having a tough time. But yes, RdM it is. I think.

Best of luck at the dentist, BRM! Now off to find me some T.Rex to listen to. I haven't jitterbug boogied or banged a gong in ages. Thanks for the musical craving, donna!

    Baque - Slumberhouse

Was torn between Bruno Fazzolari, Slumberhouse, and Providence Perfume Co. It was in the low 40's when I got up this morning so I jumped at the opportunity to wear a cold-weather option. I have a sample of DSH Vanilla Bourbon Intense that has been sitting around for months, unsniffed. Maybe today will be the day. There is also the obscure and fairly mediocre yet pleasant Moonshine - EastWest Bottlers which I haven't worn in well over a year....oh and also samples of all three releases from Charenton Macerations and most of the Zoologist line. Gah, and the bottle of Tea House - Neil Morris! A really cozy black tea/leather/aldehyde scent.

I guess I have more N.American perfumery than I thought.

Twinned with Teardrop and SJP Stash, although it seems to have faded now.

Had the usual mental block about North America and completely forgot the Zoologist samples I have, many of which are crying out for a second wear! Also completely forgot that Aromatics Elixir is from Clinique, who are US-based.

Anyway, Stash was nice while it lasted (and fantastic value)

Thank you so much, will probably go with something along the lines of fragrances from houses like Halston, Giorgio Beverly Hills or Geoffrey Beene.
