    Default Aventus musks

Does anyone know what musk(s) are in Aventus other than Ambroxan and Ambrettolide? I've so far found people saying helvetolide, tonalide, and muscenone. I like the musk accord in aventus but haven't been successful in recreating it. Thank you!

Helvetolide and Ambrettolide in a 7:1 ratio will get you as close as you can get.

Thanks for the reply. Helvetolide must be the unknown musk in the GC-MS I found online. Is there really that much Ambroxan in Aventus? I have never been able to smell Ambroxan very well but, from what I hear from others, that much seems like it would overwhelm most people.

It is unfortunate, but due to the immaturity of a person associated with this GCMS, these results are not trustworthy.

But my GC of Aventus has this result.

    Ambrettolide 2%
    Cetalox 9%
    Helvetolide 12%

Thanks, Paul. There are some other things about that analysis that made me question whether it could be trusted.

    Are the peaks misidentified?
That GC/MS was posted by a user on Parfumo.net.

    Oh.
Thanks for pointing out its untrustworthiness, Paul.

The inaccuracy stems from the commissioner of the GC. The lab who made it has successfully made several very high quality GC's for me.
That Aventus GC is intentionally a "Study" GC, as a result, and not a completely perfect GC.

If the commissioner had been more trustworthy, we likely would have gotten a better result.

Thanks for this info. Can I get some hint on getting the smokey birch accord. I have been playing with birch tar oil diluted at 10% and isobutyl quinoline at different ratios but I can't figure it out.

The vertical column indicates the % of witch ingredient?
For example: Dior Sauvage have 3,5% of D-Limonene?

I am the person behind these chromatograms, I did them 5 years ago when I still had access to a GCMS during my master thesis.

I never claimed that my gaschromatogram is trustworthy, it was just to show that Sauvage and Aventus are conceptually similar. And given that Cetalox is a racemic mix of Ambroxan, my GC nailed it at least there, as well as with the Ambrettolide.

I just would like to ask how you come to the conclusion that I am immature? I mean, why this insult?

Could be a trace of something fecal or it could be costus which is sort of like 'wet-fur'

No. Fecal notes are relatively clearly defined, and "civet" is most of the time not civet but usually an admixture of indole and/or skatole which are in fact smelling fecal. These are absent in Aventus. But I have no idea what might create this effect for you.

    Well then it's all good

If Creed would be a IFF custom, their maritima could be a candidate for that wet fur / wet dog note.

Jasmine absolute and maybe benzyl acetate have a slightly fecal / dirty vibe. Not sure if it has either but Aventus claims to use jasmine so not sure if it's only the clean Hedione aspect.

Was just wondering if you could assist with dilution of the following materials as I work with 10% dilution

    Helional, Stemone, Bourgeonal

    Thanks.

1 gram material, plus 9 grams 190 proof ethyl alcohol.
    weigh your materials.

I already dilute most materials to 10% as I do weigh them. I meant would the helional, Stemone , Bourgeonal possibly need heavier dilution to fit in with 10%. As I'm still learning. Thanks.

Someone else will need to give their opinion. I don't find the need to dilute most materials.
