We still do want traffic here right?

I love you guys really I do, but how sustainable is a site where the focus is on "They don't make'em like they used to and never will so what's the use?", "which batch code of this established fragrance wears best?", "What mega macho manly man smells women should never ever wear" or "I hate X popular/expensive brand"?

I've spent enough time in old VFW halls, old Sears, and old Denny's restaurants (that all eventually closed) to know you really don't want to focus on just the conservative establishment or hardcore guru types. They deserve representation in the directory too but in the case of the establishment, they already have it with all the 20th century stuff, while the hardcore guru types are only gonna talk about the same 2 or 3 indie brands and never leave that footprint either in the forums or directory. Also if this describes someone, no insult meant, live and let live, just making a point.

You gotta throw strangers a mass-appeal bone once in a while or you'll be counting your days, and nobody wants that, even the establishment types! Where else are they going to endlessly complain about Dior Sauvage and the loss of oakmoss or praise their lifelong favorites if not here? There's also an amazing DIY community here that ends up producing some of the very same artisanal houses I mentioned above (PK Perfumes, Rogue, Madhat etc) and we want to continue giving them a platform right? I say this with the upmost respect and friendship because you've allowed me to make this place a home away from the tribulations of everyday life.

I hope someone finds a way to make directory updates a shared responsibility, or even maybe allow users to fully fill out the page details so all someone has to do is hit "approve" like with the reviews, because then this problem would solve itself. It's awesome seeing niche, artisanal and vintage releases being the focus here, but ignoring the major releases being added to the directory (or sloughing them off to the exteme) is to risk taking the bedrock away in favor of adding a floor to the house. Ever play Jenga? Jus' sayin' guys!

    Thanks for reading <3
    Well said.

This platform has defied its use by date primarily because people keep their wardrobe here and they can read some great reviews.

Submitted three more to the directory, all three are new L'Occitane contributions with Pierre Hermé:

    Oud Praline
    Ambre Amande
    Musc Rose

    Thank you in advance!
I also would be more than happy to help if there is a way.

I also want to point out the need for this as well. Can someone please change the pic of the 2005. version in the directory (pic below). Create a new DH 2011. version with the 2011. version pic. Thank you.

Also the 2005. version picture needs an update. The current picture in the directory is the 2011. version pic.

This is minor compared to all the other entries waiting to make the directory, but is there any way that Songes EDP by Annick Goutal can be added? As of now there is only the EDT in directory.

I don't think Basenotes admin generally considers reformulations and packaging refreshes as entirely different versions of a scent (like Fragrantica does), and stuff like the various versions of Dior Homme Cologne or Sport were entirely different compositions from the ground up, which is why they got their own entries. The 2011 reformulation of Homme was just that, not an attempt to make "a completely new" fragrance like DH2020, or the alternate versions of DHC.

As an aside, the black stems replaced the silver ones so everything matched the appearance of Dior Homme Intense.

Not a huge issue but Etat Libre d'Orange She Was An Anomaly for whatever reason shows a picture of the sample vial, not the bottle.

Fragglerock doesn't add suggestions either. I really wish they'd let more people help with the directory here on BN. Many of us use this to track our fragrances and wears. I know one or two people can't do it all but tons of people are willing to volunteer to help.

I think I might email them asking if there is any way they'd accept help on maintaining the directory from volunteers.

lt's now been 16 months since l last requested perfumes to be added, & l'm still waiting. These were fairly recent releases at the time as well, not obscure or vintage.

l'm really starting to wonder what is the point of this thread?
