Default NEW: Hermes - Eau des Merveilles Bleue For Women!

    From NST:

Hermès will launch Eau des Merveilles Bleue in February. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to 2004's Eau des Merveilles, and follows 2012's L'Ambre des Merveilles.

Like a modern-day fairy, [perfumer] Christine Nagel creates works of wonder. With a drop of azure blue, she illuminates the magic of the ocean and the colour of the sky in an invitation to a waking dream, eyes wide open among the stars.

The enchantment continues with joyful effervescence in a fragrance that is both woody and mineral, washed in sea spray and warmed by the roundness and heat of patchouli.

Life through blue-tinted glasses brings a promise of freshness sparkling with marine surprises.

The taste of water on pebbles and the wonder of so many treasures within arm’s reach.
Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Yes, this has been a great line. Almost bought Eau Claire, and loved the original Eau and Elixir. Must sniff is an understatement!

Calone and eau de merveilles? This sounds like one of those dr jekill and mr hyde things Christine Nagel does occasionally. Could be good.

Great question. It was a bit of a punt, that I rationalized at the time with wanting to limit my purchases. I enjoyed a sample that Mike P. had given me, and was pretty impressed. I thought it was extremely easy to wear, and better than a lot of the more designated unisex scents from Hermès. But I think it was the "impression of salt" that I had gotten from the original two which I felt was missing. I found myself wishing for another scent while sniffing it. So I just had a talk with myself. "Pretty bottle, great scent, but you like Elixir more. DON'T DO IT." So, that's where it ended. Didn't buy it. OR Elixir. Have to admit, I've had regrets, but this new one gives me a chance to reevaluate everything.

I was wondering because you and I seem to appreciate some similar scents, and I have Elixir and just bought Eau Claire. Strongly considered L'Ambre, but to that end, I may enjoy Ambre Narguile more. For the record, Eau Claire needs skin to show its salt.

Ooooh, I know. what witchy brew has she toiled and troubled on? My heart belongs to Eau Claire, I replaced her with L'Ambre because I thought it would have more Omm Pa Pa, but Eau Claire is understated and dead classy and I miss it. My husband moved on L'Ambre so I don't feel compelled to finish it. Now I will have to try this new concoction and choose between them.

    No word yet on this?

I read it was a Harrods exclusive.

Yeah I'm thinking there's probably testers in store. When you try to buy it online it says "shipping 4/24"...so keep that in mind.

Wearing this from a sample. It's sort of a lighter, fresher version of the original. The fresh notes are just so light and hovering...they don't overpower the scent. Which is a good thing.

Sort of wears like an Eau des Merveilles Body Splash or something like that.

I actually picked this up over the weekend. I was in the Selfridges store in London and got to try it out. I was able to really test it on myself in the store, I got a sample bottle to try, which had two days worth of a good sample. Came back, they recognized me, I received another sample of it as well as two other generous Hermes perfume samples (Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche and Un Jardin Sur Le Toit). The SA's also let me amply sample the Hermessence line and even though I'm not a huge rose fan, I enjoyed Rose Amazone.

Eau des Merveilles Bleue can easily be worn by both men and women and I love the way it smells on my husband too.

It is a VERY fresh scent. Let's start with that. Those of you that were irked by Hermes' Jardin (the Monsieur Li one with the fresh note) are NOT going to like this one.

Still...there's that EdM DNA swirling all around...making it quite easy to get along with the detergent-aquatic qualities that this has.

I'm wearing Eau des Merveilles Bleue today. Mike sent a sample, knowing my love of the original Eau des Merveilles and my obsession of all things bleu. I couldn't wait to give it a try and almost bought a bottle blind. I'm so glad I didn't because, honestly, I'm a little underwhelmed ...

As Mike mentioned, the EdM DNA is very apparent, especially the first few minutes. I find the mineral note interesting, and wish it lasted longer. I think I smell vetiver, although not listed in the notes. Where EdM is sun-warmed skin and worn wood, EdMB is smooth pebbles soaked in sea spray, cool to the touch. And then, for me, it goes terribly wrong ... It becomes almost too fresh, as if a large amount of laundry soap was dumped in the sea. At this point, EdMB becomes Eau des Merveilles Sporty! Fresh! Bleue (with matching body wash and deodorant!) a little overpowering and for sure, my least favorite part of this scent. It did eventually calm down and it became a salty skin scent.

I know this sounds negative, but I'm keeping an open mind about EdMB and will try again. I know me too well ... I get all jazzed about a scent, build it up in my mind, and then I'm disappointed when it doesn't live up to such high expectations. Sometimes, my first impressions are right, but many times they aren't and I grow to love the scent. I'm sort of hoping I grow to love this one ...

    Doesn't surprise me shades.

I wore it today also. This is my 3rd wearing and each time the 'fresh' note has gotten progressively stronger. Today, like you, it gave off the impression of 'detergent'. Very clearly.

I was reminded of Un Jardin Monsieu de Li (and Hermessence Epice Marine, for that matter).

The wonderful Eau des Merveilles accord doesn't stand a chance against the sheer volume and strength of the fresh note (is it calone?).

Wearing the sample has not a total loss: More than ever, I want a decant of the original Eau des Merveilles back in my Wardrobe.

Im thinking of picking this up for the dog days of summer as i don't get along with most masculine freshies, and while I'm at the Hermes counter I'll probably scoop up a bottle of 24 Faubourg edp.

This is my least favourite of des Merveilles line that I tried (I tried this, Eau and Elixir) - I am not a fan of aquatics and salty scents.
But it is definitely my favourite aquatic scent. It is good.

It's crazy that everyone says that Eau and Elixir des Merveilles are salty, because I do not get the salty note on me when I try them (and thank gods), I get only slightly spicy aromatic orangy sweetness instead.

I just picked up a 15ml bottle of it...glad I did, as I won't wear it enough to warrant a full bottle. I love that Hermes offers smaller bottle-sets.
