As if it's really daring and brave to go against the grain when even the safest, most inoffensive scents are "disgusting and repulsive to your finely attuned nostril hairs" simply because they have become more mainstream. Colognes are obviously subjective but there becomes a point when people are blatantly just trying to be different for the sake of it

The biggest problem with this post is that the topic isn't about listing "cheap" or "mainstream" scents that we find repulsive - but about EXPENSIVE ones that we find repulsive.
This thread has nothing to do with mainstream or popular scents.

I guess you are talking about Dark Aoud or Moon Aoud. The first one smells lovely.

It's hard to deny that some Montales are absolutely unwearable. I'm looking at you - fougeres marines.

I can see Baccarat Rouge 540 smelling "medicinal".
I'd call it "Replica: at the dentist's" but I still adore my 2ml sample. Full bottle would be hard to get through but a modest 10ml would allow me to remember my beautiful dentist for the rest of my life.

Clive Christian No 1. It wasn't absolutely repulsive just way too floral for me and kind of a mixed up floral as well. It seemed to be going in no particular direction to my nose. Smelled like a funeral home to me.

My perspective Dior Sauvage is so very expensive that I think that Dior needs to pay me the price of a Roja Dove to wear it.

These 5 are just horrible to my nose:

    Xerjoff Modoc
    Frederic Malle Dries Van Noten
    Bond no 9 Montauk
    Xerjoff Kind of Blue
    Or to Parisi Stercus

Can't think of many off the top of my head, but one that definitely stands out is Creed Royal Water.
Never understood the love for this one.

I thought I was the only one who hated Interlude. Gave a full wearing for a day and I'm not sure who's going to finish the remaining juice in the vial. It's that weird.

Ones that were pretty disappointing to me...

Royal Mayfair (at least the opening and for a bit? Like Vick's VapoRub or something)
Epic Man (screechy fuzzy static woodiness)
Black Orchid EdP if this counts in the expensive category.
    Frank No. 2
Olfattology Yacuma & OT.23 (but I got them less than full retail. Not horrible smelling, but just... pretty dang weird and not exactly wearable or something)
    M. Micallef Osaito
    Vanille Absolument - disappointing

Amouage Figment Man is such a strange fragrance. It reminds me of a musty, dank cellar or crypt and I can't see any situation where I'd wear it. Yet I can't stop sampling it when I am at the local Amouage dealer because it is so intriguing.

I haven't smelled 99% of the frags in this thread and my picks aren't the most pricy but Sauvage I hate with a passion. Terrible blind buy based on reputation. Almost made the same mistake with Tobacco Vanille. Had my hands on the bottle getting ready to purchase when I thought alright lets just put on a couple sprays and walk around. I couldn't get back to the hotel to shower fast enough.

Too many to name really. With the exception of the super cheap stuff, like $20 and under, I’ve found little correlation between price and whether or not something smells good.

A few off the top of my head:

Kemi - Tempest ($270 15ML of spicy, woody ISO-E urine)
    Bat - Zoologist
A City on Fire & Bull's Blood - Imaginary Authors
Okay. A City on Fire and Bull's Blood are AMAZING! (I give you that Bat smells like a moldy basement, as does Amouage Figment.)

From recent releases, Bois Sikar. Smells like crispy baconwithout any softening touches from beginning to end. I got into Atelier Des Ors because of the easy to love Cuir Sacre, but Bois Sikar had my wife refusing to come near me.

I like Bull's Blood. I don't even remember putting that down in the list. Also, since, I discovered I was sent a mislabeled Kemi sample. I love Elixir, hate Tempest. I dislike Bat and City on Fire.
