    Default A vetiver recommendation

I used to have Guerlain Vetiver, the ribbed bottle edition, and enjoyed it; after years, however, the perfume has gone south. It's been my only vetiver. Can anyone recommend me a vetiver that's not heavy but not too light (I do have Guerlain L'Homme L'Eau Boisee but find it too light for my tastes, in vetiver and strength). I had contemplated simply getting the reformulated version of Guerlain's masterpiece, but thought to ask here first.

Guerlain Vetiver Extreme is really good. A modern take on a classic.

These sound like what you're looking for:
    Formidable Man by Andree Putman
    Vetiver Extraordinaire

    If not go for:
    Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
    Encre Noir Sport

One that will surprise the heck out of you is :
Rasasi Woody (I've been waiting to recommend this....it's really good)

Carven Le Vetiver is very nice. And inexpensive as well.

Amazing smell, perfect projection & great lasting power to boot...!

Le Vetiver by Carven is great, possibly one of the best vetivers for its price - it's clean, deep, classy and featuring a great (seemingly natural, or however very realistic) vetiver core. It has little in common with most plastic vetivers in its price range (and many more expensive ones as well).

Other than that, you can still find some older bottles of Guerlain Vetiver!

Under $30. Should be in the directory but isn't, for some inexplicable reason.

Older, ribbed bottles are still plentiful but the prices are edging up. Expect to pay around $100 for the 100ml, if not more.

My suggestion is going to be Lubin Vetiver - very similar to the Guerlain.

    I haven't tried the Carven.

Another option for a vetiver that is not too light or too heavy with the vetiver is Chopard Noble Vetiver.

Roja Parfums Vetiver Pour Homme (EDP or Extrait)

This fragrance was designed to be an upgrade to Guerlain Vetiver since it was reformulated. I really enjoy Roja Dove's work, so if you are interested in the high end of the market, this one comes highly recommended.

Vettiveru and Sycomore (or its cheap version, Encre Noire).
Funilly that was my least favorite formulation of Guerlain Vetiver. Watered down vetiver with a lot of citrus.

I think current Vetiver by Guerlain is better than most. Villoresi Vetiver is also great.

Seems as though you like true Vetiver. I wouldn't recommend Original Vetiver. It's a decent fragrance but not as Vetivery (not a word I know) as others. I'd try:

Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver EDP
    Zegna - Haitian Vetiver
Lalique - Encre Noir Sport (inexpensive)
Roja Dove - Vetiver (super expensive)
Hermes - Vetiver Tonka (also expensive)
