Thread: Spicy Summer? |
I'm stuck between trying to stay cool, and craving spicy scents. What are your favorite spicy scents to wear in the summer?
My favorite spicy summer scent is L'Air du Desert Marocain. Summer heat seems compatible with the desert theme. It's the only amber I wear this time of year.
May be the followings are try-worthy:
Pour Un Homme de Caron Sport
De Bachmakov The Different Company
Geranium odorata Diptyque

Still looking for Big Bottle of Muscs Koublaï Khän by Serge Lutens
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Among others (but also including the ones tested as well, not just currently owning or owned):
L`Erbolario Ginepro Nero, Yves Rocher Cuir Vetiver, L`Occitane L`Occitan, Jacques Bogart One Man Show, Eau Sauvage Parfum, in no particular order
I wear Penhaligon's Elixir when I'm craving spices in summer. And when I'm feeling bold, Alexander McQueen's Kingdom.
Perhaps more salty than spicy: Eau des Merveilles.
Idole by Lubin is a good one (Olivia Giacobetti)
Amouage Opus II also a great spiced fougere.
Wear them both in HK this time of year . . .

Azzaro Limited Edition 2014
My suggestions would be:
Fahrenheit
Original Santal
Chergui
This is something I've been noticing recently - pepper and clove seem to lift fragrances to provide refreshment. Of course it doesn't work if they're part of very heavy orientals.
I've been going through every bottle and sample I own over the last few weeks and have found this refreshing airy effect most recently with Piper Nigrum by Vilerosi and Vetiverius by Oliver and Co, and also Je Suis un Homme by ELDO. These may not be the easiest to find as they were all samples or travel sizes I received with orders and I would never have thought of trying them otherwise. Because of this, I don't have suggestions on well known scents with these notes, simply because I normally seek out citrus for summer. But I'm sure that there are many and it's great to see some suggestions from other posters of things I can actually find in local shops!
I also agree with LADDM as a suggestion!
Bois 1920 Sushi Imperiale

Just tried it and MdO Bohea Boheme fits this description as well. It's has a smoky tea accord spiced with cardanom. Quite nice in hot weather.
Polo Supreme Oud
Declaration L'eau
Adding Sud Est by Gigli, Garrigue by Gantier and Silver by Lalique
A new release that has caught my attention: Dame Perfumery - Sky Father
Current Winter Favorites:
1. House of Matriarch - Blackbird
2. Brückner - Aoud 1
3. Creed - Royal Oud
4. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Generation Man
5. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
6. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
7. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Mortal Skin
8. Ormonde Jayne - Black Gold
9. Creed - Royal English Leather
10. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
Amouage Epic Man
Amouage Journey Man
Unfortunately, I don't like the essence of oud in the fragrance. However, the fruity flowery gourmand is preferable that is added with a little spice.
Been using the discontinued but readily available at present 'Statement' by Etienne Aigner, longevity average or slightly less but a lovely fruity spicy and, imo, eminently summer suitable scent.
Un Jardin après la Mousson from Hermès is a true hot weather fragrance with spiciness.
Parfums de marly Layton is definitely one I'd wear in summer.
