Default New Member! Looking for some recommendations

    Howdy!

I've decided to take the plunge into stepping up my fragrance collection game. I'd love some recommendations on what my next 5 fragrances should be.

Out of all the fragrances that I own (16 currently), here are my favorites:
    • Tom Ford - Black Orchid EDT (probably my favorite)
    • Martin Margiela - Replica Jazz Club (love for a night at a bar/restaurant)
    • Acqua Di Parma - Blu Meditteraneo Mandorlo di Sicilia (summertime)
    • Burberry - Burberry Brit Rhythm (love the freshness)
    • Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb (tons of compliments)
    • Chanel - Bleu de Chanel (office/dressed up)

Creed Aventus is another one that I have. I like it. I want to LOVE it, but I don't. My fiance loves it, so I wear it pretty frequently, but it definitely is not one of my favorites.

I just tested Kilian's Straight To Heaven and Back To Black and I was pretty blown away by how awesome they were. So one of those might be next on the list.

Price doesn't matter, I'd just love to hear everyone's opinion based on my scent profile. Thank you all!

if price is not a matter then you got an "open sea"

I would suggest some to try based upon your wardrobe and favorite scents:
    Pure Havane
    BelAmi Hermes
    Muglar Cologne
    Burberry London
    Chergui Serge Lutens
    Bvlgari Man In Black
L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Issey Miyake

-For something resinous, deep (but not terribly dark) with a wonderful complementary incense note, Comme de Garcons' "2 Man" is fantastic.

-For a vanilla tinged tobacco, consider Franck Boclet's "Tobacco."

    - For a fig-centric citrus, Figuier Eden from Armani's Prive line is fantastic.

-Itasca by Lubin is a wonderful, smooth vetiver.

-Endymion EDC is a very easy wearing scent that smells "put together" but can be worn casually.

    - Rive Gauche by YSL is one of my "go-to's" that always seems to "work" when I'm not sure what to wear.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

Welcome to you bglanzman7! Enjoy your time here at Basenotes! Perhaps try out some of the Montale or Mancera offerings as there are many to choose from.

    Welcome aboard bglanzman7!

You need some freshies in your collection, it's easy to get carried away & buy a bunch of the same category & not have any variety for warmer weather.

    Try these..

    Xerjoff Nio
    Dior homme sport (2012)
    Creed silver mountain water
    Bond no9 bleecker street
    Versace pour homme
Maison francis kurkdjian aqua universalis forte
Maison francis kurkdjian aqua vitae forte
I came here to talk fragrances & chew bubblegum.. and i'm all out of bubblegum.

    I recommend trying:

Frapin - Speakeasy (Perfect step up from tobacco impostors like Back to Black and Spicebomb.)
Houbigant - Fougere Royale (Modern fougere, fresh, green, and just sweet enough.)
Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier - Racine (A fresh, neon bright citrus vetiver whose excellence cannot be denied. A shot in the arm every spray.)

Boy, you really stepped into it when you posted in here.

    Cost no object, I recommend:
    Clive Christian 1872
    Xerjoff Nio

I think you should sample the entire Acqua di Parma Mediterraneo line as most of them are bottle-worthy, nose-pleasers.

Creed Green Irish Tweed (it's literally a 'must own' for anyone's collection and simply beautiful smelling)

I think you could really appreciate Creed Spice & Wood based on your tastes.

    Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
    Diptyque Tam Dao EDP
    Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Ralph Lauren's Safari (smells like a rugged older brother to Platinum Egoiste and my 2nd favorite overall scent in my collection)

My advise to newbies: first start your search by reading: the various fora, reviews on Basenotes and Fragrantica, literature by Luca Turin and the various blogs and websites about perfumes: this prevents that every new member comes with the same questions every time!
    Currently wearing: Coriolan by Guerlain

How about some 80's nostalgia - Zino Davidoff?
It's inexpensive and can bring a lot of memories, if you're old.
If you're young it can give you a hint of 80's.

True, but it takes away the fun of members that like helping others & enjoy giving new members recommendations.
