Thumbs up Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver

This release is unnoticed here, but I highly recommend to try it especially if you like Terre d'Hermes, Declaration etc. It smells like the sweet vetiver of Terre d'Hermes, the spices of Declaration and citruses/ambroxan of Sauvage were mixed in the one bottle and the result is awesome. Not that rich as Terre, not that cardamom-y as Declaration but at the same time not that simple as Sauvage.
A very good thing for its price (35 usd for 50 ml in Russia).

If I'm not mistaken this is a new release?

Thank you for the recommendation, first time to find out about this release, liking both the note of vetiver and a few fragrances from the house of Lagerfeld, particularly Photo (bonus point if there is any even remote similarity to this very classic fougere) definitely duly included on a testing list asap

You can add it yourself! Or somebody else who wants to add it.

Just go to the Contribute page and provide the necessary information.

    http://www.basenotes.net/contribute.php

The necessary information can be extracted from websites like NST or Scented Salamander, or the maker's website. You can also include links to information and official pictures.

We're trying to encouraging crowdsourcing of the Directory to make it more timely, to keep up with the explosion in new releases. I use this thing whenever I buy something not in the Directory. Usually it gets added very soon, but especially if I fill in all the information.

Done! Thank you for the guide! I have done it once before and the reason I hesitate to do it is that I know that others does this so much better than me. But one can learn, right?

Where can you buy this in the US market?

I see Karl has added two new scents to this line: https://www.nstperfume.com/2018/09/1...ew-fragrances/

This is actually a really nice vetiver. It smells very much like the vetiver aspect of Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee, with a more simple fresh-citrus top. I'd recommend it, especially once it comes down to typical Lagerfeld discount prices.

Except for Photo, could never find any KL fragrance to try. The kaiser is a multi-talented person. His frags get my interest.

Nice "tool"! The speed of lauchments was not helping with the old system of adding a new fragrance to the directory.
I think this "tool" is worthy a permanently sticky thread in the general fragrance discussion board.

    $45 for 50 ml and $60 for 100 ml isn't a bad price:

How do you think of it as a sort of standard vetiver fragrance? Would you say it's capable or more along the lines of a failure?

Would anyone call this a musk prominent fragrance? Musk seems to be what they put at the front of the description.

I actually tried this in um... either Dillard's or Macy's, maybe the former, recently. It's actually quite good and I was tempted to buy at least one bottle of it. Not sure on performance, but the smell I enjoyed.

For the price this is quite a decent scent. Smells like a budget reinterpretation of Vetiver Babylone sliced up with some Declaration thrown in there to fill out the gaps. Performance isn't the best as I was hoping for a stronger VB vibe as that itself is quite soft but overall the pricepoint belies the quality and if you go heavy on the trigger you can get around 5 hours out of it.

Agreed. To me, it smells like a more rooty and 'wet' Vetiver Babylone / Vetiver d'Hiver. The 'wet' part reminds me a tiny bit of Vetiver Insolent, less so of Declaration. Quite pleasant, but nothing mind blowing. A good dumb reach.

Saw this now. A bit late... I don't think of it as a typical vetiver fragrance. I'm not much for those either. It's a generic freshie. Nothing wrong with that but it just did not catch my interest.
