Default I have run out of my 1-ounce Creed Original Vetiver. Should I replace with Mugler Cologne?

    Hey,

I have not smelled Mugler cologne yet, but I've read for over a year now how it smells similar. I'm wondering if it's worth a blind buy as a decent replacement? Or should I stick to the Creed I know and like?

I personally like Mugler better, but maybe because I owned Mugler before I ever discovered OV, so I've never switched, even when I ran out of Mugler. I just went online and ordered another.

Mugler is so affordable, it's totally worth giving it a shot. Why not?

Mugler is excellent. I don't think it takes the place of OV, but it's still extremely worthy to have in your collection in my opinion...especially at the price point it fetches. It's a safe buy in my book.

Honestly think it's worth a blind buy for you as cheaply as you can get it for now. If you don't like it, it would be pretty easy to sell or swap
without losing very much money on it. I like Original Vetiver more, but not enough to pay the premium for it.

They don't smell as alike to me as people make them out to be. That being said, Mugler is pretty cheap at under $40 for 100mls that you can blind buy it without breaking the bank.

If you're used to OV, you'll find the Mugler Cologne wanting. Go over to the Splits forum and get in on a split ( as low as $40 for 1oz OV).

OV isn't that expensive... unless you get it from Creed. No reason to do that, however.

This. They're similar, yes, but if you have been using OV and have become quite familiar with it, you'll feel it lacking slightly.

I'd say stick with what you're used to.
Move on. It is just a chapter in the past, but don't close the book, just turn the page.

I also think this would be your best bet. However, trying Mugler Cologne won't hurt you.

OV has the better drydown. But I am a bug fan of Mugler cologne nonetheless

I would say that it’s worth a shot, for three reasons. MC is relatively inexpensive, they are quite similar, and MC is a great scent on its own. I would bet that you will prefer OV though, as you seem to love the signature Creed base and vibe (me too!). Do you care for the ginger in OV? Would you prefer that OV was less sharp? Less woody? More edgy and otherworldly?

FWIW, I gave away my MC after smelling OV.

I own and love both OV and MC. You will be shocked at the similarity. Definitely a safe blind buy. Your shave kit for OV should easily translate to MC.

yes, replace it. it's cheap. if you find that there's a huge difference between these (you won't...), you can buy OV next time. or a week later (and use MC in you WC )

If there are possibilities to get both inexpensively and easily, would consider and also recommend keeping/acquiring at least samples or smaller bottles of both- given the quality, versatility, inoffensiveness, pleasant and classy freshness of both

To me, the Creed is much more enjoyable (particularly after the top fades out), but like others have said, you might like MC just as well or even prefer it, and it's so cheap. Why not?

I own both, they have similar openings but OV last longer and has a completely different drydown. The MC drydown is the same scent as the opening fading away. MC is nice don't get me wrong, but you can get 50 ml of OV for around $60.00 from some of the splitters on here, I'd go with that.

Smell similar on initial spray. After a few minutes, there is no contest that OV smells much better.

Why not try Mugler Cologne and let your nose decide? It's perfume. Trust your nose, not your eyes.

Original Vetiver and Mugler Cologne are both great, and they both have a similar opening, but they go in different directions after the top notes fade. I prefer Original Vetiver, but I'm not saying it's better. They're both great, but they're both different. Heck, you might find that you want both, and since Mugler Cologne can be found on the cheap online, why not? Original Vetiver can be found cheap online too. I got my 75ml bottle for $81 shipped.

I have both. The openings are very similar, but Creed's OV is much more complex as it dries down, and performs much better on me. It's in my top 10, and will always be in my collection.
