    Default Wednesday's Scent

Hermes Eau D'Orange Vert! Seems like the warm weather brings out more
leather notes up front. You all know that this scent is supposed to
smell like the insides of new Hermes leather bag half-full of
oranges. This image was in mind of its creator... smells pretty close
to that if you ask me!

I can't believe I'm admitting to this, but Wednesday's scent...

    Joop!

(The scent is actually bringing me back to **EXTREMELY** fond
memories of 1995-96 I believe it was) when I last wore Joop!.

I'm so pleased I rediscovered this scent. I truly am.

The waitress at lunch yesterday even commented, "Gosh you seem
    happier than usual today!"

Fragrance DOES and CAN elevate your mood. I just LOVE when it
    happens.

Today I was torn between Issey and Laguna. I decided on Laguna...yum
    yum.

You know Jeffery, it is amazing the way memory affects the way we
think about a scent. A fragrance is just like a photo..maybe even
more powerful personally. It totally triggers memories from a time
when that scent was prominent. I said awhile back that I was never
big on "Higher", I still don't think it's a great scent. But the fact
that I used it as, of all things, an airfreshner when I was with my
girlfriend in Russia, instantly recalls those memories when I wear
it. Based on that reason alone it's special to me. So now that I am
going to see her next week, I am going to let something else take
that distinction (either Platinum Egoiste or BVL Extreme, which
reminds me of London last summer)
    Here's to fond memories
    Best Regards,

ABSOLUTELY! I am learning that there is a perfect scent for EVERY occasion.
Me, I give myself a little spritz of Hanae Mori just before I go to bed. I
turn on some light classical music, and sleep like a baby most of the time.
Hanae Mori just gives me that sense of relaxation...perfect for bedtime IMO.
Wearing a fragrance to bed??? sure, why not?

    Can anyone say "Scentaholic"???

Gosh I just *LOVED* hearing your story about "Higher" and how it
brought back memories of you and your girlfriend! To me that's what
    makes a fragrance so special.

I have so many fragrance memories that I could go on for years here.
I don't know how far back you've gone in the archives, but this past
spring I talked about how Michael for Women brought back memories to
    me of my childhood.

Another fragrance that is *somewhat* similar to Joop! is Jil
Sander's Feeling Man, now discontinued however. I wore than in 1995
    and have many fond memories.

Joop! however brings back a time when I was finding myself
professionally and personally. I did things in a "not so
traditional" manner when growing up, and therefore was exposed to a
lot of different things that most people my age at the time did not.

While a lot of people my age at the time were in college or working
part-time and having fun, I was pushing myself professionally,
perhaps more so than I should have been, and actually wound up
getting sick from it and was ordered to slow down before something
drastic happens, which literally was right around the corner for me
if I didn't "snap out of it."

I just figured when you graduate from High School, fun is over, and
life in the working world begins, and you must push yourself to the
limit in order to get "all those things" you want in life.

At that time, I was wearing Joop!, Feeling Man, Eternity, Drakkar,
Safari. Thus certain fragrances transport me back to those times.
And while they were "strange times" they were an integral and
defining point in my life, and the past two days of wearing Joop!
has really brought out the BEST of those memories. I'm really
enjoying the scent, not just because of the memories, but because
I'm literally experiencing the depth, dimension and the multiple
ways that Joop! smells. I'm actually in love with it here... and am
not repulsed like I was when I used to probably wear too much of it.

Thanks again for your story about Higher and how it's used as an air
freshner. At least it's good for something, right? :) hehe!!!

I think OSHA is now requiring all public restrooms to have a bottle
of Michael for Men on hand to use as a deoderant for bathrooms.
(Paul the Scentimus told me that, if I remember correctly ---
    hahahhaha!!!) KIDDING!

Yes, I am a *VERY* moody person.

But my personality by nature is *VERY* conservative and rigid. I
like to have fun, and push the limit/envelope, but most people say
    I'm very unapproachable/too serious.

The waitress at the restaurant however knows me rather well, and
knows my mood swings. But to be happy two days in a row... I TRULY
am contributing that in part to the fragrance. There are some days
when I wear 212 (one of my MOST ADORED fragrances) and I just
think... "I wish I wore something else today."

As a warning, I have a very high temper. If someone/something
bothers me, I'll say it like it is. That way, no one can ever say I
talk about them behind their back.

Kind of like Joan Rivers. If she thinks what you're wearing is ugly
or smells rank, she'll tell you. Thata' girl.

Hey, mine too!! Original D&G today! I've had a sample for ages, but
was avoiding to wear it don't know why. So today I wear this
fragrance for a very first time, and I'm not disappointed in
slightest - it's a pleasant diversion from what I usually wear to
work (light dry spices or citrus fragrances). Good. I feel romantic
today. It does amaze me how this stuff can change your mood sometimes.

Unbound. But it's quickly becoming "Unnoticeable."

This fragrance wears better on me in the winter I guess when the
weather is cooler. It's only 11:00, and I can barely detect the
fragrance like I used to in the winter months. :(

A bit upsetting because I really like Unbound's "smooth" approach to
the "marine" base unlike Aqua di Gio which can get EXTREMELY strong
    at some points.

But I'm lost, I can't get out of these wet woods here. I just walked

No one's discussed this scent before, but today I'm wearing Eaux de
Caron - Fraiche. Thought it was perfect for the heatwave we're
having in the Bay Area. Though I like it, I think I still prefer
    Eaux de Caron - Forte.

"Crisp, refreshing and bracing, Eau Fraiche by CARON enlivens and
invigorates your senses with its tonic cocktail of tropical citrus
fruits. High spirited and youthful, it will refresh and can be
enjoyed by men and women alike. Top notes of tangerine, bergamot and
artemisia combine with jasmin, rose and patchouli, and dry down to a
sensual base of musk and oakmoss."
