Default If Bleu De Chanel, Dior Savauge, and Versace Dylan Blue were released the same day, which would win?

    Hey there, Basenotes!

I've been gone for a while, but it's good to be back!

I've got a question for you guys:

A lot of the criticism surrounding three of the biggest mass appealing fragrances on the market is that they're too "alike", etc. So my question is this: If Bleu De Chanel, Dior Savauge, and Versace Dylan Blue were released the same day, which would win? If you couldn't criticize them based on comparisons of similarly etc, but just based on the quality of the scent itself, which would you prefer?
    My Current Fab Five Fragrances:
    1) Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male
    2) YSL La Nuit De L'homme
    3) Acqua Di Gio Profumo
    4) Valentino Uomo Intense
    5) Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male

Bleu de Chanel is vastly superior in every way.

Sauvage smells like radioactive fallout. Not that I know what that smells like, but Sauvage is what I imagine it would smell like. A complete ghastly chemical mess.

BdC by a landslide for me.
I'm a huge Dior house fan, but I was wondering why I wasn't grabbing a giant Sauvage bottle when it released. I went through 4 or 5 samples and I couldn't figure out if I liked it. I finally bought it and returned it a week later. This thing just didn't gel with me. I got another DHE instead.

Dylan Blue was also pretty horrible for me, but I love VPH and Man eau fraiche.

Funny thing is I can't wear the current BdC now because of severe performance issues. Same with AHS and AHEB

Initial release of BdC wins though

If Dior stop their marketing of Sauvage, sales will drop off the cliff. Sauvage will never sell big on scent alone.

BdC has virtually no marketing here in Australia, yet it is a massive seller.

Dylan Blue? That already gathering dust in discount drug stores.

    Agree with this assessment.

Bleu de Chanel EDT smells god awful ON MY SKIN, YMMV. The grapefruit is sulfuric and smells like rank body odor from

initial application 'til ultimate drydown. So, no sale (though I blind bought it when it launched in 2012), and it even smells bad

sprayed on the curtains in the downstairs bathroom (almost gone).

Nothing to do with the original question, but I felt like typing !!!

    THIS.

Dylan Blue is a cheap cash grab of chemicals dumped on a been there done that top. I think it's quite poor. To me, it smells like a rush job formula created to put something on shelves. The only thing I've smelled recently that's worse is Aqva Atlantiqve, which is a qvestionable qvick low qvality cash grab.

Based on quality, Bleu is the clear winner.

    B U T

Outside of Basenotes, I’d say Sauvage. It smells stronger and to the average customer that spells ‘better value’. And with ‘Jack Sparrow’ fronting the campaign, the Chanel is toast.

Dylan Blue? Not even in the game, lol.

Though I've not tried Dylan Blue, I'd put my money on BdC EDP. It's far more rounded and rather less cloying than Sauvage. Sauvage does perform like a performance-enhancing-drugged 100m sprinter but BdC isn't too far behind in my opinion.

I own and almost hate bdc. I still wear it and never look forward to it but don't mind it once it's on. Sauvage I don't love, but I think is very appealing and Dylan blue isn't as good as sauvage.. sauvage is a compliment getter and younger women absolutely love it.
