Default Tom Ford Santal Blush for men?

    Hey everyone. Quick question

So I went to Bloomingdales today to try some new scents and I had a nice conversation with this gentleman at the tom ford section. I currently have Noir De Noir, Tobacco Vanilla, and Tuscan leather.

He gave me 4ML sample of Oud Wood which was very nice, but he really had me into Santal Blush and gave me the same sample. I think it smells pretty good

I go online to check out what other people think with reviews, and I come to find out its for women?!

What do you guys think? Now I am hesitant to wear this, and don't understand why he would give me a women's one. He said its one of his favs to wear

Off topic, I tried FF at Nerman Marcus and I hated it on the paper spray, but now its growing on my skin with a nice dry down

    Anyways, thanks guys

I love it too and it will become a full bottle soon. It's unisex imo. There are way more feminine fragrances labeled as male. Don't let this detail stop you.

I wear Santal Blush. To be honest, I think Dior Homme, marketed to men, is prettier than Santal Blush, marketed to women.

If you like it and it works for you, then by all means wear it proudly. I only tried it once at Nieman Marcus and found it feminine for me.

I think its ok for guys, quite woody and spicy so why not?

In a similar thread we have been debating Lyric Man and I would consider that far harder to pull off.

For what it's worth I don't think Tom Ford dictates gender for any of the Private Blend fragrances, so it's not that the Sales Associate bamboozled you or anything. If you like it, wear it. I found the floral notes a bit much for my personal taste, but otherwise find it a nice fragrance.

I love it. Tom Ford's fragrances are mostly marketed as unisex.

I just bought my girlfriend's ten year old Meow by Katy Perry. I decided to put some on before I went out to the casino. Correct, Meow, by Kay Perry. My masculinity is still intact. What what you wish.

Sandalwood fragrances IMO skew on the masculine side and somehow work better on men's skins , that being said I hardly wore mine but my sister loved it on me she took my bottle lol, btw real sandalwood oil has a deep musky slightly buttery but 'sweaty' note.

Tom Ford private blends are created so that they can be worn both by men and women. Some lean more masculine while some lean more feminine, according to individuals opinions, but you can wear whatever you enjoy. For example, Taylor Swift's signature scent is Oud Wood... I'm not a big fan of santal blush, but I don't consider it more feminine than Noir de Noir. Cheers

Wearing it today, underneath a sweater and still the radiance and sillage is pretty amazing. Smells great.

I love SB. It stands out as a really unique scent among my collection. Even my son asked me about it- he mentioned it was one of the more interesting things I had worn.

I don't give a flying * about male/female distinction when choosing perfumes, but recently I realize guys are more concerned about it than women. So here is my advice: when in doubt, don't wear it. If it's really a big deal to you, figure out why you like it then move on to other choices. When coming to perfumes, 72.3 percent of time you always have other choices. (I made that number up to be more convincing.)

Speaking of the perfume itself, of a few hundreds of perfumes I sniffed, Santal Blush is one of the only two that immediately count as "sexy". To me it's pretty clear where the perfumer draw inspiration from: an image of a nude Aphrodite. Delicate sandalwood is as thin as her pale skin, with some vague floral hints (perhaps from oud) adding a touch of color to her cheek; the benzoin underneath breathes in the warmth of life. If she allows you to get close enough, you can also sense a naughty dirty odor of cumin. Bravo, Tom Ford, those porns you watch surely paid off.

    Nice review!

You all made me want to wear it this weekend.

I also rate it very highly. One of not too many Tom Fords I find worth owning. Yann Vasnier has a very deft touch. It has a great juxtaposition of creamy and dry, clean and dirty. A true sandalwood fragrance, that actually manages to capture the essence of sandalwood and simultaneously smell like a real fragrance with its own identity.

While it has a recognizeable jasmine note, more prominent in the top, it's mainly spicy and woody. It is unisex and if something, leans masculine.
