Default are socks necessary when wearing a moccasin?

I just bought a Minnetonka moccasin and was wondering if socks were optional considering this is marketed as "slippers" (when it's really a moc).
Earn $25 when one friend makes a purchase. They'll get $10.

It depends, will your feet stink out your teepee if you don't wear socks?

For me, when I'm at my home in Brazil or Costa Rica, never wear socks with them. Other places I do. I think it depends on the individual.

As others were saying, both styles are used, so it's a matter of preference. Without socks is more informal, and certainly good for a tropical/vacation environment as hednic's.

I also recently bought a pair of Minnetonka moccasins (leopard print on ponyhair!), and I think they look stupid with socks.

I wear the invisible socks with my loafers. Even though my feet don't sweat I would never wear any shoes without socks.
Shoes will last longer and smell less this way.

Could you post a picture or link image of the shoes you bought? I don't think Minnetonka moccasin are available here where I live.

As a lifelong hater of socks (and wearer of sandals in December whenever possible), I'd say wear them whichever way is comfortable.

Not sure if that question was meant for the OP, but these are the Minnetonka ponyhair that I bought:

You could not sully those with socks!

I don't think wearing socks with moccasin will look good. It will rather kill its look. But if you still want to pair socks with them, then you may go with trainer socks.

I think what makes them slippers rather than moccasins is the delicate sole for interior use and being vulnerable to dust, dirt and water. I imagine they might not survive being worn outdoors for too long.
