Default NEW: Tom Ford - Vanille Fatale!

Tom Ford has launched Vanille Fatale, a new fragrance in the Private Blend range.

    Impassioned. Transfixing. Defiant.

Vanille Fatale is a force of nature personified.

A beguiling tempest that takes over like a rush of blood to the head.

The impossible becomes real, too good to be true becomes true. Her – or his – unrelenting hold is fixed, refined yet raw, polished yet primal.

The stirring spice of saffron and coriander opens the scent, infiltrating the senses with the gripping incense of myrrh and olibanum.

Reverberating with the tobacco-like pull of roasted barley, the heart of Vanille Fatale is a perfect storm of roasted coffee absolute, narcissus and frangipani that seduces with grounded floralcy.

Madagascan vanilla blends with rich mahogany, its smoky glamour made all the more exotic with primal suede at the finish.

Tom Ford Vanille Fatale is available in 50 ($230) and 250 ($595) ml Eau de Parfum.

I'll need to try this one. Sounds promising and hopefully less opulent than Tobacco Vanille.

Got my attention. What would y'all speculate this will smell like based on the info?

I speculate this will be a vanilla bomb

    Captain obvious here.

Nah, but it sounds like it will go in a darker direction with the coffee / incense--definitely different than TV, perhaps more like a vanilla centric drydown of parfums de marly layton exclusif? Sounds actually really good if the scent lives up to the description

I hope it's not going to be too sweet like Tobacco Vanille.

That's what I got from the description of notes as well. However, I could easily see this one leaning on the cloying vanilla bomb side of things...but I'll stay hopeful!

Will this become a collection revolving around Tobacco Vanille?

I found a youtube review on it:

Hopefully there will be an upcoming private blend with less vanilla/sweetness like ff and this and something more unique instead.

I heard about this a while ago but still no sign of being able to buy it here. A while back I heard it was to be a Harrods exclusive for six weeks.. then it would go to other stores. I tried Harrods webstore but they haven't got it yet. I will definitely order a bottle as soon as it becomes available online.

Also, some people were speculating this was a batch that came about in the creation of F***ing Fabulous (not sure if we're allowed to swear on Basenotes ) and they liked it enough to keep it as a separate release. However, that may be nonsense. I don't know.

Its not sweet , its more a piney frankincense blended with vanilla but without the sweetness, its a unique scent, close to the skin scent but EXCELLENT longevity, I sprayed it last nite at 8 and I can clearly smell the incense in this at 2 pm the next day, so almost 18 hours !

Side from the dick head comment, even If I didn't wash for 24-48 hours, I would still smell amazing.

Yes it is, I was quite surprised , I am not usually a fan of Tom Ford fragrances save for a select few. Though this is not a scent I would purchase, the only release lately which I liked was Tobacco Oud Intense at Nieman's and Bois Marocain.

Nothing special to me here. Very light vanilla with an aquatic background or something of that nature. Like a NP mixed with vanilla. It does last a good long while though.

I have heard this sort of remark about various fragrances before. Point of clarification needed, please. By this remark do you mean that you can still smell the fragrance 18 hours later but only as a faint skin scent if you press your nose to your arm, or do you mean that the fragrance still projects and has sillage 18 hours later? I have experienced former but never the latter.

Go and buy Red Tobacco by Mancera, apply 4 sprays and you'll go above and beyond that.

As for the TF offering, sounds interesting but need to sample it first before whacking it on the splits as it could be a trainwreck depending on how its blended as there is so much going on.

^^^ The notes for Ford look very good, but (and this may just be my own personal prejudice), if I wanted a serious, higher end vanilla fragrance not already in my collection, I would likely opt for Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille even though I have never smelt it.
