Thread: Rasasi Shuhrah

  1. #1

    Default Rasasi Shuhrah

I know this is mentioned a few times in the Rasasi Reference thread but having sampled this a few times now I thought it different and interesting enough to warrant its own.

I purchased a 5ml sample of this and I first sniff thought it was going to be unwearable!! It immediately reminded me of cigarette ash mixed with perfume - a kind of "back of a taxi" vibe! I didn't touch it again until today when I thought I'd give it a proper wear and, unexpectedly, I really like it.

The cigarette ash note reminds me of the odd "recently smoked cigarette filter" smell in the far drydown of Sung Homme. It's a classic example of the kind of scent best smelled at a distance rather than close up. I think this could qualify as a modern day powerhouse as it combines macho swagger with stellar projection and longevity.

The Rasasi website describes it thus:

Shuhrah for men blends bergamot, frankincense, cedar wood, oak moss & Oudh with floral inflections to create an fresh woody masculine scent that is uplifting and charismatic. The simple clean bottle houses an everyday fragrance that lends a very endearing allure to a man who can charm his way effortlessly.

    Top: Rose, Tomato Leaves, Freesia
    Middle: Rose, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Jasmine
Base: Amber, Musk, Oakmoss, Oudh, Leathery

Anyone else a fan or have any experience of this one...?

Just bought it blind Derby and will share my opinion of it once I gave it a full wearing. I think I will like it as being a huge fan of Kouros, Interlude, Knize Ten, Ambre Fetiche etc. which are all ''love-hate'', pretty dark and polarizing scents.
    My Top '11' :

Hey Slayer! Can't wait to hear your verdict on this one. Our tastes have often aligned since the great days of the Powerhouse forum and I really hope you like Shuhrah. It's a bit crazy - someone said it smells like the back of a limo and I know what they mean - strong perfume mixed with cigarette ash! Sounds unpleasant but is strangely compelling and somehow smells great. I suppose Kouros has the same effect on people. Some think it's awful and 'dirty' smelling and others, like myself, think it smells amazing and clean in a 'steamy men's shower room' kind of way. Please let us know what your verdict is when it arrives my friend...!

    Derby!
Received and first impression: I agree with you that this is a kind of modern powerhouse and at this moment I can summarize this fragrance in a simple way and I wonder if you agree?!
Rasasi Shuhrah smells to me like the incensy-smokey 'niche' version of Quorum! Just imagine Quorum being a bit softer and modernized with less tobacco and smokey incense added and voila, there is Shuhrah!

Hey Slayer! Incidentally I listened to 'South of Heaven' on my way to work this morning! Anyway, from thrash metal to fragrances! Shuhrah - a modern, niche Quorum - I think you may be on to something there. When I first smelled Shuhrah it really reminded me of something and I just couldn't place it. Now you've got me wondering if it's Quorum. I'm going to do a side-by-side and see if that's it. I can definitely see a possible similarity between them and you have such a good nose for these things. Do you like the Shuhrah? Hope you do...!

''The root of all evil is the heart of a black soul''.......(South of Heaven lyric)
This fragrance is called Satan's scent anyway by two diifferent Youtube reviewers

Yes it is a keeper for sure! This is really special as there is nothing like it! For €24/90ml a real surprise imo!
I mean it is dark, incensy, smokey, fruity, floral, tobacco-ish, woody and fresh at the same time! Can you name me another that fits this odd bill?

Satan's scent!! It definitely has a hellish quality - smokey and ashy. Unique as well and that's rare these days. It really does have all the qualities you mention all rolled into one - and it somehow smells great. Good tie-in with the Slayer lyrics too! Glad you quoted the first line of that verse and not the "less family friendly" one of the previous verse...!! I'll let you know how the Quorum comparison goes.

I just got my bottle after Joy Amin had been giving it praise. Boy oh boy am I not disappointed! Such a daring fragrance! I get the same vibe from it that I get from Amouage Interlude and Journey, but at a fraction of the price!

I can't wait until it gets colder to really try it!

Have owned it for a long time, never viewed it as ‘daring’ to be honest. I do enjoy wearing it, but don’t find it a challenge to wear and I’m not someone who enjoys anything ‘dirty’ when it comes to fragrances

Haha! Sorry - it's a good one as well! I've only got a sample myself but would love a full bottle. It's pretty unusual but very wearable at the same time. Knowing your tastes I would think you'd like it. It's definitely got 'modern powerhouse' credentials including the attitude and 'swagger' which shamu1 used to often mention...!

To me it is amazing how they mixed the fresh fruity part (melon?!) of this fragrance into the dark, incensy, smokey, floral, tobacco-ish and woody fresh part. The blend of all is really awesome imo. Now owning this for a few months and still very happy with it (also bought a back up)! Quality to price wise a real steal!

Anyone know why there is nothing about Shuhrah on Fragrantica? It seems to be a fragrance that should garner more attention

They are ''behind'' on few more (recent) releases; no clue why.

Has anyone who has tried Shuhrah also tried Tobacco Blaze? TB is super loud and has an ashy accord turned WAY up. I wonder how similar hey are and if they share that accord?

IMO it is not superloud at all after it settled down and it certainly has no turned up ashy accord. Shuhrah is even fresh smelling imo (never smelled Tobacco Blaze).

Interesting... I wore Ambergris Showers for the first time yesterday. I had heard it was all about the green but it shares the same ashy accord as TB albeit not quite as loud.

it is indeed a very oriental fragrance. Smoky yes but in combination with the flowers definitely wearable. it has a good projection as well. it reminded me a bit of an arabic incense of rose and jasmine. To me personally the character of this scent is more mystique and dark.

    Hi guys and gals,
New to this forum here. I do own the Shuhrah and it reminds me of a Smokey middle eastern base scent that lingers very smoothly. Joy Amin did a great review on this perfume and he is not wrong. A good buy if your preferred fragrance personality is woody, Smokey, scents

It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

I owned Shuhrah for a couple of months before I broke down and sold it not because I didn’t like the smell, but because I live in Alabama where it is hot and humid most of the year. This is this Generations Fahrenheit imo. It smells wonderful in cold weather at a bar! I do miss it
