Default New: Rogue Perfumery - Chypre-Siam EdP

    chypre_siam.jpg

"A still-life moment in the tropical eastern forest."

    Deep, Floral, Resinous, Mossy, Green

A vintage-style chypre fragrance that opens with kaffir lime and basil. Jasmine and ylang sweep across the forest floor and rest atop a warm base of oakmoss, spices, benzoin and civet.

Notes include: Kaffir Lime, Basil, Spices, Jasmine, Ylang, Moss, Benzoin, Civet

This is a designated feminine, although it is close to unisex. Oakmoss is not constrained to IFRA levels.

The perfumer is Manuel Cross. More information can be found here:

I have not sniffed this one yet, but will do so very soon.

    Ooh! Very exciting.
My only regrets in life are the people I haven't stood up for,
and the perfumes I've thrown away.

I know that my current sample (new formula coming) contains musk ketone and musk xylol - two of the old nitro musks.

I've been interested in trying Manuel's fragrances for a while now, but just never got around to it. Finally pulled the trigger and ordered some samples from his Etsy store.

For those who like vintage Mitsouko, Rogue Perfumery's Chypre-Siam EDT smells very much like the 80's Mitsouko parfum. Slightly less 'creamy' and peachy, but just as mossy. I like it a bit more than the guerlain, even.

I am finally testing the samples I bought a few months ago. I very much second Hothamwater’s comments on Chypre Siam. It reminds me very much of vintage Mitsouko. Definitely a non-IFRA chypre.

Chypre-Siam is a wonderful old school chypre based scent. It reminded me of Coty Chypre.

This is outstanding. The jasmine and the ylang provide a creamy counterpart to the oakmoss. I look forward to a FB purchase.

    Bump

Well after about eleven days I have finally received this fragrance. As someone who likes and appreciates vintage fragrances this is most glorious scent to experience. When I first sprayed it I had a flashback to my childhood in the mid seventies, I think my mothers friend used to wear something similar, the smell is so evocative of those days.

On the opening I get lush lime and basil with white florals of creamy ylang ylang and the most beautiful jasmine accord. There is exotic spices, sandalwood, hints of civet and a lovely sweet oakmoss to die for. These notes are constantly dancing around each other at the same time, what a beauty.

You can tell a lot of thought and careful consideration went into creating this. The scent is very complex and intricate with really natural smelling ingredients. They truly don't make them like this anymore. Thank god for Rogue Perfumery in bringing back the dying art of the true chypre fragrance. This is a vintage lovers dream of a fragrance!

    Wonderful!
