It is nice. A citrus vetiver. Glad I own it. Wish it lasted longer.

Yes. Yes it is. Bit weak though and I found the lacking performance made it simply decant worthy at best but the composition itself is really nice.

One of the few from the house that I thought smelled nice.

My sample performed well. Always wanted a bottle. Not sure what has stopped me.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

I was fond of it at first, enjoying it each revisit. But as I come back to it lately, I've grown weary of it.

Probably my favourite from my Byredo, I also own and enjoy Rose of No mans land + gypsy water. I have black saffron and velvet haze on my buy list but Bal to me is clearly their best release. I recently stayed in a hotel that supplied all the soaps, gels etc with the exact smell of Bal D’Afrrique despite not having it on the label, they just say ‘Citron + Vetiver’

I find it pleasant but boring, like every other scent in the line. Only M/Mink stands out for me, and not in a good way.

It initially blew me away and I wanted to impulsively buy a bottle but I’m glad I sat on it. After a few wearings it got really boring really fast. To my nose, Bal d’Afrique, Oliver People, and Pulp are all in the same vain but Oliver People is the most interesting with it’s sand-y accord.

Try Zara Home's Tonka Wood... a cheaper clone of BdA. Also made by same perfumer, Jerome Epinette. Performance-wise...similar.

I dislike the opening - it's too sweet and doesn't sit well with me. Once that fades I like it, but it's not bottle worthy to me.

Agree with this. Definitely too sweet in the opening, which gives it a feminine vibe. Cuir Vetiver, Vetiver Tonka or Vetiver Fatale are better options in somewhat similar genre.

Luckily for me, I find it performs really well on my skin.

The top immediately made me think of mangoes somehow, bought it the same day I tried it on a whim in Liberty London. Never regretted it since.

My wife bought a bottle and wore it all summer along with Velvet Haze. I like BdA better, but it's a rule in the house that we don't wear each other's fragrances.
