    Question Help me choose

Hey guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.

A little background first. I started collection fragrances almost a year ago.. Couldn't really justify spending much on a fragrance before that (I'm from a 3rd world country). However, an encounter with a fragrance changed my mind. I used a Montblanc Starwalker during a cousin's wedding and fell in love with it. That is when I decided I needed to get some of this stuff.. and get into this world of fragrances.

Anyway, about this thread. I want a scent that is fresh. I can't really tell much notes apart since I'm not that experienced or knowledgeable in this regard, but I will tell you some of my favorite scents so maybe then you can help.

    I like:

    • L'Eau d'Issey
    • L'Eau Bleue d'Issey
    • Sauvage
    • Sur Le Nil
    • Tres Nuit (GIT clone)
    • CDNIT (Aventus clone)
    • CK One (getting rid of this one - smells almost the same as L'Eau d'Issey)
    • Tag-Him (BdC clone)
    • Montblanc Legend Intense

I only hate one scent in particular (something I couldn't stand and made me feel nauseous) - Joop Homme.

    I already own the following:

    • Nautica Nautica Voyage
    • Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey
    • Issey Miyake L'Eau Bleue d'Issey
    • Caron Le 3e
    • Davidoff Cool Water Night Dive
    • Burberry Burberry
    • Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris
    • Calvin Klein Euphoria Intense
    • Perry Ellis 360 Red
    • Montblanc Starwalker
    • Burberry Touch
    • Dunhill Desire for a Man
    • Armaf Club De Nuit Intense
    • Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel
    • Montblanc Legend Intense
    • Hermès Orange
    • Hermès Un Jardin (Mediterranean)
    • Bvlgari Aqva
    • Bvlgari Aqva Amara
    • Encre Noire
    • Azzaro Chrome Legend
    • Rasasi Al-Wisam
    • Armaf Tres Nuit
    • Dior Sauvage
    • Cartier Declaration
    • Guerlain L'Instant
    • Armaf Tag-Him

Almost half of these were blind buys.

So, suggest me a fresh scent. Something I don't already have. Currently looking at:

    • Bulgari Aqua Atlantique
    • Versace Dylan Blue
    • Dior Aqua Fahrenheit

Considering the amount of clones you already have and you are still looking for more fresh fragrances, I'd recommend trying an actual Creed. Maybe start with a decant/split of Green Irish Tweed if you haven't already tried that one. Have fun exploring mate.

Decants aren't really available here. Even the shops usually don't have samples - they actually unpack fresh boxes and then repack them. Honestly speaking though, I can't justify spending 300 bucks on a 100ml bottle.

Great suggestions so far. I will add:

Bulgari PH and /or PH Extreme
    Dior Homme Cologne
    Dior Homme Sport
    Rasasi Chastity
    Rasasi Wisdom
    Rasasi Al Wisam Day
    Guerlain Homme
    Guerlain Homme L'eau Boisee
    Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Cologne
    Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde
    Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandrine Basilic
    Royal Copenhagen 1775 Nobile
    Versace Eau Fraiche
    Banana Republic 78 Vintage Green
    Thymes Olive Leaf
    Pino Silvestre Rainforest
    Eternity Aqua
    Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne
    Murray & Lanman Florida Water

Based on your wardrobe, and my limited experience, considering nothing too expensive, those are but a few I can recommend. If I were standing in front of my wardrobe, I could add more. But the ones I mentioned above, although presently different from each other, all give me a certain sense of freshness. If you're looking for fresh vetiver, then Hednic mentioned a good one. But L'eau Boisee presents a great vetiver note, perhaps dressed up a bit. Best wishes.

Another vote for Aqua Fahrenheit for the options given. Fahrenheit Cologne is in the same ballpark and you could probably get 200ml of that for not much more than 100ml of the Aqua flanker.

    Your missing a good vetiver!
    Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP
    Hermes Terre D’Hermes EDT/EDP

Also second getting splits of actual Creeds you’ll thank yourself in the long run. Clones are exactly that, the ingredients in Creed are higher and in return you get a nicer fragrance and smell.
Fragrance is my favorite thing. So much so that if I leave the house and I don't put any on, I'll turn around and go back home.

I bought Terre D'Hermes EDT but it smelled very similar to Cartier Declaration so I sold it.

I'm from Pakistan.. Getting splits etc would be quite hard here. Especially of a fragrance like this.

Are the other two options not good? I have two Aquas (pour homme and amara) and quite like them.

I checked the price of Fahrenheit Cologne.. It is the same as the Aqua version. 125ml, 76 bucks.

I have the second one (I've mentioned it as Orange in my list because that is what this thing reminds me of - love it).

I got TdH.. Smelled the same as Cartier Declaration. Sold it.

    I have Encre Noir. Isn't that a Vetiver-based scent?

"Fresh" to me always suggests an English-style Eau de Cologne. Some good ones: Trumper GFT, Neal's Yard Cologne, Murdock Black Tea.

Have you tried Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche? It's closer to Eau de Pamplemousse Rose than TdH, and very fresh. Kind of gets away from the Declaration thing.

Definitely it is - where they bring the inky side out. If you like vetiver, you need more than one. Mugler Cologne is a great example of a very fresh vetiver that doesn't smell like vetiver unless you pay attention.

You have a BdC clone - why not BdC, too? I find there is nothing exactly like it! EdT for sure, for freshness.

Very expensive where I live (120+ USD for 100ml).

This current order is from fragrancenet and they don't have it. Basically my friend will be bringing these over.

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions guys. I ordered the following (don't hate me):

    1. Dylan Blue 200ml
    2. Set Sail St. Barts 100ml
    3. Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee 75ml (as suggested by various people here)
    4. Bright Neroli (ordered locally)

I originally had Aqva Atlantiqve and Aqva Marine in my list but I decided to go with Dylan Blue instead (plus I already have a 150ml original Aqva). Excited about Set Sail and L'Eau Boisee.

Thanks a lot for the help everyone. I'll post some pictures once I get them (if that sort of thing is appreciated here).

The Guerlain (Homme L'Eau Boisee) is a guaranteed big winner! Great choice.

Set Sail St. Barts is in my collection and is very enjoyable. It is ridiculously good at the price, and has a very refreshing scent. I think you will be pleased.

Don't know much about the other two, but I know that Dylan Blue is not bad.

Give Gucci Guilty intense a try. I personally think it's a great scent and got lots of compliments when I wore it.

I also think it smells unique compared to what I smell people wearing in public

I wanted to ask you something regarding the performance of this scent. I want to love it, even though I'm not a fan of these kinda scents.

Sillage and longevity. I applied it to my wrist at 11am. It is 2pm now and I can barely smell it. Is this one of those scents that you can't really smell yourself but people around you can?

EDIT: I asked the person sitting next to me to smell my wrist and was told that they could smell it quite clearly.
