Default Buying myself a congratulatory bottle!!

Okay, so, I recently put an offer in on a house and it just was accepted - First time home buyer. Other than celebrating with some friends, I thought I would get myself a congratulatory bottle of a frag I've been wanting to get lately....Straight to Heaven by Kilian. Will probably wait until after close, but thinking about heading over to Saks 5th and picking up a bottle. The only thing I am wavering on is should I get STH or STH Extreme? Has anyone gotten their nose to STH Extreme? Also, not sure if Saks carries it or not.

Congratulations on the house! Best of luck to you! And by the way, congrats on the Kilian!

Well, haven't bought anything yet. Just putting some thought into all of this. And since I couldn't find anyone splitting any STH bottles, I thought this would be the bottle that I go out and buy. Also seeing if I should go with the normal STH or with STH Extreme. I hear that the normal STH has longevity issues. So, just seeing if the Extreme still smells almost identical to STH but with better longevity.

I personally didn't have any longevity issues the times I tried it, but it's a good idea to get others' opinions and then judge for yourself.

You know you should never make any large purchases right before making a mortgage application... cars, furniture, niche fragrances. That drives loan officers nuts!

Just kidding (sort of). Congrats and enjoy whichever bottle you get.

Was thinking the same thing myself. That probably warrants another bottle purchase though.

Congratulations! Any contingencies on the sale? You might want to wait before celebrating. I hope there is plenty of room for your collection in the new house!

Y'know, that could be good advice. I'd never thought of it.

Personally, if I were you, I'd buy a sample of each and wear them before committing to a bottle so I could be sure I chose the one that worked best on my own skin.

Best of luck with the house!!! That's fantastic!

I don't have any fragrance advice, but want to congratulate you on your offer being accepted! Hope the sale goes through smoothly and that whichever perfume you select will perfectly match your mood.

    Hey!

Congratulations. On the Straight to Heaven vs STH Extreme, it comes down to how long you want the Rum note to last and how much emphasis is on the Rum note. The Extreme version is a bit sweeter (only a little) and the Rum note is a bit more central to the composition sharing the center stage with the Sandalwood and other wood notes, and that Rum note lasts well into the fragrance whereas the original STH version is a less sweet, more dry and centered on the woods, and that opening rum note fades within an hour or two and all you smell eventually is the sandalwood and other adjoining supporting wood notes.

I chose the Extreme version because I like that slight sweetness improvement and the longer lasting Rum note. Both versions are excellent. I don't think it's worth it to own both versions as they are both very similar to each other. It's one of those choices where you kind of have to pick either/or. Having both is a bit of a waste of money I think.

Don't worry, I wasn't planning on getting the bottle until it closes and becomes official.

Thanks for the details. I am hoping Saks in SF has the Extreme version so I can compare the two side by side.
