    IMO,

There is no doubt which is the more incredible. Clive Christian 1872 has achieved a smell in the greens that supercedes vintage Polo, in that the greens smell like they are damp with humidity. How the hell did they do that? I haven't smelled anything like that achievement in any other fragrance. Then add in the deep, dark, over-ripe orange with no acidity, just sweetness and what smells like a tad of a scent like vegetation that is molding in a cold autumn morning.

1872 is a 'great' perfume. A masterpiece (and I don't call many fragrances that, only a small number). Amouage Reflection, while good, smells a bit unbalanced and over-done on the powder and sweetness to the point where it's a bit of a fragrance noise-maker and not subtle like a masterpiece should be.

lol agree. I really love the green in 1872. Unfortunately, it doesn't retain this character upon the last I sampled it. It dries down to something I found unappealing, but I admit I need to resample. ohhh
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Like most other Clive Christian fragrances it's been reformulated, and not for the better.

1872 is in a class of its own in my opinion....
It’s probably taken the top spot in my collection

Wow. That's crazy. I may have to open a Costco account and snag a backup.

It's funny how often we see things like this -- the poll right now is even, but comments are overwhelmingly in one direction or other. I always wonder what's going on... is one side just more or less willing to admit their position publicly? Are the polls being manipulated by fake profiles?

Usually, when there's a difference between the polls and the discussion thread, I side with the thread, although this time I voted for Reflection Man, although I hadn't tried 1872 in years and with it on one wrist right now, I'm already re-thinking. My original thought, from memory, was: I certainly admired the brilliance and quality of 1872, and could not argue that it just overall smelled more natural, balanced, and quality... but I also remember that "okay, it's brilliant, but while I enjoy smelling this, I don't want to smell like it", if that makes any sense. I love Reflection Man so won't say anything bad about it, but it is absolutely less balanced and natural smelling, and a more clear pitch to popular tastes.

That said, I put 1872 and Reflection Man on both wrists a while ago; can't say I care for the opening of either. 1872's drydown is sublime and I think I've changed my mind on "I like to smell it but don't want to smell LIKE it".
