    Amouage Asrar attar.

I started the day with Amber Aoud by Roja Dove which was beautiful (first wearing ever), but all but gone on me by lunch time. It in a way reminded me of Asrar, which i havent worn all summer since it does seem to fit cooler weather better, but i said screw it and put a little dab on each wrist and on my neck and wow, i remember now why this is my favorite all time scent. Enjoying it immensely.

how would you rate L'Extrait versus the original Habit Rouge EDT or Parfum?
For me the L'Extrait is very fun to own because I'm such a HR fan (and I suppose sort of a completist). L'Extrait is closer in spirit to the EdP than it is the EdT or vintage EdC- more density, warmer, darker, less aldehydes, less citrus, stronger base (labdanum, vanilla, patch, leather is what I get), certainly a different type of complexity than the EdT... Of course it also sits much closer to the skin and performs very well for many hours. Honestly, as much as I do enjoy L'Extrait I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary for a HR fan to own as it's incredibly overpriced and the current EdT and EdP as is are perfectly wonderful releases in every way, imo. If I were to encourage anyone to spend more on something special in the HR line it would probably in the direction of the vintage EdC as it would explain the roots of this fragrance in a more complete way AND it's way much cheaper than the L'Extrait.

This is a great explanation. Thank you!!!

I love both the EdT and the EDP. Vintage is a good suggestion!

    Avon Peak Zone (2002)

Imagine a better, more complex Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme (2007) that came out five years before it and sold for way less. Unfortunately discontinued (like almost all 2000's Avon), this stuff is still ultimately a generic aquatic for a hot day, but way more imaginative and fun to wear than the comparable designers of the time.

Scent of peace for him, just got my bottle today. I bought some samples years back, I didn’t care for it at first. A few weeks later I remembered the smell in my mind and wanted it again, wore the sample and loved it after that. Maybe the day I wore it triggered something with the day I had but I really love the scent. I don’t get the comparisons much with Aventus, I find them pretty different. The bond scents share similiar DNA, and I personally like a number of the ones I’ve tried from the house.

Claiborne Sport by Liz Claiborne (1997)

Pretty much the height of inoffensive intertexual fresh fougère design, this builds on Eternity for Men (1989), Paco Rabanne XS Pour Homme (1993), and Claiborne's own Curve for Men (1996), the latter of which is from the same perfumer who's pillowy-soft fougère accord ran through everything Claiborne made for men until about 2005. Claiborne Sport isn't really sporty, and feels a bit like catalog filler, but sees redemption in the way it presents a gentle but persistent finish that mixes Curve sweetness with the "shine" of geranium, but without the metallic sharpness. It's a low-key mass appeal fragrance that's elevator music for the nose, but hard to hate, in stark contrast to today's ambrox bombs.

I don't long for this when I'm not wearing it, but once I have it on my skin, I enjoy it immensely. There are more interesting HdP releases, but this is such an effortlessly wearable fragrance.

It always vaguely reminds me of the days when I wore Hanae Mori HM EDP.
