Vintage Equipage. First wore this as a teenager (it always felt too grown up) and now that I am grown up, I love wearing it. Only sniffed current from a bottle at H boutique but as long as there is vintage to be had and I can afford it, I am in.

    Paco Rabanne Ténéré (1988)

A dry musky floral fougère with an animalic undercurrent in the same vein as Kouros (1981), The Third Man (1986), Lapidus Pour Homme (1987), Ho Hang Club (1987), and Sybaris (1988). This sits closer to Lapidus than Kouros but uses a sandalwood touch that makes it feel more oriental and semi-niche when compared to its peers. I make the joke that Arm & Hammer stole the floral accord here for their carpet deodorizer (because of similarities), but realistically the quality of this is day and night from any commercial application. The name "Ténéré" itself describes desert and this is the arid fougère Sauvage (2015) wishes it could be.

Are you wearing the vintage? A good casual/work scent that you could probably wear days at a time.

I'm increasingly convinced that Noir Anthracite is the best thing Tom Ford ever released. It just keeps thrilling me.

I have also loved this one, a unique and classy take on Vetiver. Too bad it’s discontinued and asks for an outrageous premium on eBay.
