I own the old bottle. It is a very opulent iris scent and my favorite by far referencing this note.

I went with Kilian's Sacred Wood today. I almost never wear this one, but when I am in the mood for sandalwood, this fits the bill perfectly.

Is it a natural, creamy sandalwood?

I have never smelled pure Mysore sandalwood oil, and my frame of reference for the note of sandalwood is other fragrances I own (Santal Blush, Wonderwood, Tam Dao, Egoiste, Bois des Iles, etc.). I'm pretty sure these fragrances use a synthetic sandalwood note as opposed to the real deal. Having said that, Sacred Wood smells wonderful, and it has that smooth creamy aspect of sandalwood that I love.

I had the opportunity to buy two tiny, mini vials of authentic pure mysore sandalwood in the early 00's. I still have them. It smells creamy, buttery (not oily), and woody in a different, softer, lighter, gentler way than regular wood. It is very relaxing, gives you a peaceful feeling, induces you to "meditate". Tam Dao originally had some sandalwood (not from india) in it, had it not? What happened to it?

I hadn't heard that about Tam Dao, but perhaps you are correct. I have the EdP version, and my bottle is a couple of years old. Not sure what that tells you.
