You get a strong mist that goes wide, so one spray covers a wide area.

I'm now going to sing from the rooftops to the world about this fragrance....lol

It's a great one IMO. Very under the radar. Would never have considered it until a kind basenoter threw it in with a swap a few months ago. Great lasting power for an EDC style and very unique smell over all.

A top-notch tobacco fragrance that could easily be the king of tobacco frags. What I like most about TR is that it's not very sweet unlike TF TV or Herod, which I have and love but two sweet tobacco frags is enough in my collection. This afternoon I'm doing a side-by-side with CH Mystery Tobacco. I don't think TR will unseat MT as my favorite, but I think TR will be a future FB purchase.

To me, this is like what a 90's fragrance would have been like if they had ambroxan. That is of course a nightmare piled on top of a nightmare for the old mossheads that think designer perfume died after 1990, but the late 90's into the early 00's is when I came into my own, so I can appreciate revisiting this period with modern touches.

The 90s get a bad rap. So do the 00s, for that matter.

The 90's and 00's was just a huge swing away from aromatics into clean fruity/soapy/tobacco/ambery/white musk smells and it was oil and water compared to the 80's, 70's, and 60's that focused on wood, leather, herbs, moss, citrus, animalics and powder.

The 2010's have proved to be like the 80's in power but with chemical captives replacing traditional oakmoss, animalic musk, or amber bases, which is all the more irritating for traditionalists because it's basically the synthetic 90's made louder like the 80's, akin to taking your most-hated genre of music and cranking the volume.

Still, I like this Dylan Blue. It's just shy of being an ambroxan bomb.

Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir. I love this one, but it's so intense I've been hesitant to wear it in public, and I'm a teacher so I don't want to offend my students. But I love putting this on when I get home from work and change.

    Tom Ford Ombré Leather 16

Some folks claim to find some slight difference between this and the 2018 release, but they've always been fully identical to my nose.

The strength of Tom Ford as a fragrance house has always been its ability to channel perfumery into an aesthetic that screams *luxury* (all the better to sell obscenely priced bottles).

The Private Blend releases constitute Tom Ford's more experimental workshop. Well, "experimental" is perhaps the wrong word; everything Tom Ford releases is so fussed-over it's hard to say that any of them are particularly out-there. But there is the sense that the PB releases have often been built around very specific, striking accord, and I often find a bit of imbalance between those central accords and their supporting architecture. Such is my feeling about Tuscan Leather; it's more memorable than actually well-built. The made-for-the-market stuff that TF has produced in the Signature Line may be priced a bit lower and is less conceptually risky, but when it comes to the "build quality," they tend to be very impressive indeed, taking concepts from the PB series and integrating them into more coherent designs. Whether some of the distinctive character of those concepts have been lost in that process is open to debate, but in the case of Tuscan Leather vs. Ombré Leather, I'll take the latter.

By adding a feminine touch to Tuscan Leather, Tom Ford dressed it up and made it more wearable, softening that leather-forward effect so that what you get is a dark suede-y scent, formality with a sense of play. But it may be that Tuscan Leather really isn't the right point of comparison. In Ombré Leather, Ford must have glimpsed his next Tom Ford Noir Extreme, a dressy floral oriental that functioned as the mass-market offspring of Tobacco Vanille.
Between these two, certainly, Ombré Leather is an improvement; Noir Extreme is a very commendable fragrance in its own right, but whatever its merits, Ombré Leather has a magic Noir Extreme lacks largely because that dominant leather accord is so immediately distinctive and intriguing.

Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior (1966)

This stuff is notoriously short-lived, or so forums say, but I get all day detection out of it when not used directly on the breathways, like the back of the neck and under ears. Subtle, semi-sweet hedonic floral green all day, but just in wisps.

I agree that one should be able to like more than a single school of perfumery, but most niche hobbyists are full of tribalism regardless of subject matter, so it's rare to find someone who can leap between schools of thought.
