I'm just trying to get a Tobacco Reserve hype train going so that more Basenoters can take advantage of the low prices we're seeing for it at Marshalls/TJMaxx. It's a fragrance with "Basenoter appeal" that could feasibly unite the folks who dig the tobacco masculines of the 90s fans and the folks who enjoy the sweeter tobacco fragrances that hit in the 00s; it has as much in common with Acqua di Cuba as it does with Eau des Baux.

I have not tried Adventurer, but I see it at Marshalls all the time. I'm making slow headway with Aramis. I'm eager to try Tuscany and New West, but I need to move some bottles on to new homes before I pick up anything new.

Aramis has great history for sure. The prices are double online for TR for sure.

I've never smelled Acqua di Cuba...I would sample it but I would never own a bottle at those prices no matter how good it is.

I only have a decant. I got it from this vendor and it was a pain-free experience:

TF Vert d'Encens - this one's really clicking with my brain today... definitely not one that I'm too often in the mood for, but some days it really works.

Fan of TF, yet I haven't smelled that one yet. I'll make sure to try it next time I'm at the mall. It is great when some lesser-worn fragrances really click with you on certain occasions. Glad you are enjoying.

I really like Vert d'Encens. It's like Italian Cypress + Incense. I haven't tried any of the other "vert" Private Blends but that one is really nice.

Mr. Prince, thank you. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after you give it a try. I should add that this particular TF didn't appeal to me too much the first few times I tried it. I had to sort of get accustomed to it a bit before really appreciating it. It also has some pretty good longevity along with a nice base.

Most TF Private Blends have that quality for me.

Calvin Klein cK One Scene (2005)

Fans of 1980's musky floral fougeres like Kouros, Zino, Lapidus, Tenere, Ho Ho Club, Furyo, pay attention. This was a totally bizarre cK One flanker that flew completely under the radar and is still reasonably priced online despite being a limited production scent. You get slightly powdery florals like ylang-ylang and muguet mixed with ginger and rosewood on a musky oakmoss base with a bit of vanilla. This steers clearly unisex and isn't heavily dosed up with civet or styrax but the musk profile is a much milder version of what is in Kouros, just without the "groin glow". I find it very nice, properly dandy, and totally out-of-sync with the era in which it was released (2005).

My estimation of this one keeps rising the more time I spend with it. Its development is just so wonderful, reaching its climax in its later stages.

It's a more recent pickup. I don't think I have a preference... I've found great scents in both. Wicked is a great example of what she does best...combine gourmand notes with the unexpected to create something unique. Wicked has vanilla and almond cream blended with a dirty patchouli. Good stuff.

Lapidus Pour Homme by Ted Lapidus (1987)

I find this one to be tied with Yves Saint Laurent Kouros (1981)[/size] as my favorite of the loud musky fougères of the 1980's. Kouros does the "fresh gym sweat and inner thigh smell" virility much better but Lapidus has the fruity floral and campy loudness on top of its mossy musk base that just screams "tainted love" with neon lights. Kouros is Tom of Finland or Rob Halford while Lapidus is Boy George or Pete Burns to me.
