I haven't managed to open it yet, but I think I still smell something from the neck: a soft leathery more flowery Mitsouko comes to mind.

Even empty, I would have been tempted to buy that too. Truly gorgeous.

Very handsome. A classic relic of perfumery!

Cool. A bit of trivia about this bottle: Post 1945 bottles are completely blue because the factory that did the guilding was destroyed in the war.

Yes it is interesting that they continued with the same bottle after the gilding factory was destroyed - it is very different without the gold.

I wonder how much this perfume did cost back then in todayŽs value, considering this qoute from Monsieur GuerlainŽs blog:

"Coque d'Or was meant not least as a response to "the world's most expensive perfume", Jean Patou’s Joy (1930), and because of its innovative bottle design, gilded by hand, the price of Coque d’Or ultimately exceeded that of Joy. "

IŽm really curious about my bottle, how did it land in the north of Sweden? And it seems it got a lot of love considering the wear on the bottle. ItŽs like someone had it in a bag for years...

Maybe someone fleeing to the neutrality of Sweden during World War II, when the invasion of France became imminent?

Ah, if these old bottles could talk.

Maybe that same someone doing what I'd be tempted to do with such a bottle: pick it up every day just to pet it.
