Default Is Gucci Guilty Absolute really as good as the reviews ?

    Hi all,

I must admit, all the reviews (here and elsewhere) I've seen about Gucci Guilty Absolute has truly peaked my interest! From the description, Gucci Guilty Absolute
sounds like it would be a "SixCats!" type of (unique/strange ?) but good Fragrance. I am "thinking" about making a "blind buy" purchase of Gucci Guilty Absolute. Might Gucci Guilty Absolute be a solid bottle worthy addition to my collection ? Thanks.

    Current BOTTLES owned :

    Dior Eau Sauvage EdP
    SMN Acqua di Cuba
    SMN Nostalgia
    MPG Parfum d'Habit

It's not half as good as the new Pokémon fragrance by Creed.

It's really good. One of the best designers to come out in a long time.
And it's unique, so there's no redundancy issues.

From a personal viewpoint alone, a decent choice if already enjoying the Gucci Guilty "DNA" (as rendered in Absolute, the regular non-flanker one etc.) with an extra note of powderiness, vetiver and some "gourmand" spice but without that much sweetness although some moderate sweet notes are still there.

And while not qualified, nuanced or experienced enough to rate the appropriateness of Gucci Guilty Absolute in comparison to your current tastes and wardrobe, if still having to find some similarities, some common grounds/points, some overlap (s) with that your already own and enjoy, would say that it mostly fits the styles, themes, notes of Chergui, Burberry London, Bogart PH, Havana, Heritage and even Shalimar to certain at least minimal extents.

Or as good as the new flanker to Aventus, also coincidentally called Aventus.

I got so stoked by all the BN raves that I bought a decant from a reliable decanter on eBay. Think it was $10-12 for 10mls. It wound up being a bit too masculine for me to wear, but boy did it live up to the hype. Super interesting, esp. for a mainstream release.

I think it's very interesting but in the end too dry-woody to be wearable for me.

All the mainstream designer houses should be as bold and take chances like this release.

As long as you're not expecting compliments, it's that good. To my nose, it smells like the movie The Flight of the Phoenix. It seems to me like oil, gasoline, and a little smell of sand. It's fantastic!

Yes it is good. That good. I wish it was sold in 30 ml bottles cause i would never go through a 1.7 even. But its cheap so I'm going to get one. To me it's like Narcisco Rodriguez, a unique designer that is outstanding, that i absolutely love but don't find occasion wear it more than once or twice a month.

Good and quirky, niche-like. Most likely not something you’ll wear frequently, but a worthy addition to most collections.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your thoughts/suggestions on the Gucci. Those who know my taste in Fragrances realize that

I am NOT the least be afraid (in fact prefer) Fragrances that are "quirky/weird/stinky/unusual/odd ball/Animalistic/unique" etc.

As a matter of fact, right now I'm trying to decide if I might be better off (i.e. more likely to enjoy) purchasing SERGE LUTENS AMBRE SULTAN

as opposed to the Gucci. Ugggh, what to do ? Either purchase would be a "blind buy" although I am pretty familiar with the House of Lutens.

Buy both, and start with Ambre Sultan.

Well, it's really hard to go wrong with Ambre Sultan. Getting your amber thing going is never a bad thing, and it's unlikely you'll ever regret buying it.

If a person wants to go safe, that is.

When I smelled it in store, I got the impression of a nice, but nothing special spicy woody perfume. Good as a mainstream, but certainly not like the distinctive perfumes you smell. But with all that people are saying, I guess I had olfactory fatigue, so I need to resmell.

GGA ultimately isn't quite my style, but I have a feeling it would be a hit with you.

Ambre Sultan is really nice. Not quirky or edgy at all, so I am not sure if you would be as interested by it, but if you like amber at all, it really is a hard one to beat - especially at the price it can be found at.

Think of Terre D'hermes, but with less citrus + leather & petrol. Really.

I especially enjoy the drydown. There's something vaguely oud-y about it to me.

It's pretty much available everywhere so I don't know how you could avoid it. Took me a while to "get it" but it occupies a very unique space. Smells like a leather jacket soaked in petrol.

I kept thinking of Terre d'Hermes when I wore GGA, which made wonder if the Gucci is also overloaded with iso-e super.

Personally, I like the Band-Aid "note" in this one.

It's really good, especially if you gravitate more toward frags like Fahrenheit or Narciso Rodriguez for him. I wore it the other day and kept smelling it in the air and thinking how amazing it was. The opening can be off-putting to some, but I think it's the best part. Like Fahrenheit and NR, although they all smell nothing alike, they are all dirty masculine scents.

Looking at your SO wonderful lineup, I'd think you might like the Gucci a tick more. Ambre Sultan is more tame, cozier, great but less entertaining/challenging ... .

Not at all in my opinion, I found it simplistic, bunch of irritating synthwoodyamber. Ambre Sultan is in another league altogether, NR for him is great.I find the "band aid" accord much more satisfying in say M7oa.

But I'm a vintage guy, I enjoy almost no modern designer releases, last one being Dior Homme parfum.
