    Default MontBlanc Individuel

So I’ve been really on the fence about purchasing this fragrance. Most people agree that it smells like dryer sheets which really isn’t a bad thing I suppose. My worries come from the longevity of this and if I’d be able to wear this in summer heat? Also if this garners any compliments.

It is reasonably long lasting. I wouldn't wear it in the summer heat as it is sort of heavy, definitely not at daytime - but that could be just me. Regarding compliments, it's always hard to say who will compliment on what as there are so many factors involved.

Are you just interested in Individuel, or generally looking for a summer fragrance?

This is one I found is actually better when you put less one. Yes, it does have a bit of a clean, dryer sheet vibe to it, with some spice and sweetness up top. I enjoy it a lot when applied lightly. Too much and it becomes too sweet and strong.
Move on. It is just a chapter in the past, but don't close the book, just turn the page.

A bit of both really. I have a few really goo summer frags currently but would love to wear individual during the summer also if possible.

Would you say it’s a safe summer fragrance if applied lightly?

Individuel is not the first fragrance that comes to mind when thinking of summer frags, but it's all very subjective. If it clicks with you and you enjoy it summers, then go for it. Personally I wouldn't wear it at day but can imagine wearing it on summer evenings. You might also want to try Dunhill Desire when you can. As for summer frags, Lush Dirty, Nautica Voyage, Set Sail St. Bart's and Guerlain Homme L'eau Boisee are some nice ones.

I get good longevity from it.

While personally not being the best nor most reliable source on compliments on this (or any) fragrance, considering Montblanc Individuel a good fresh fragrance appropriate for summer and of very decent value for money

In my opinion, Individual is an extremely cloying bomb of nausea in dead cold, and much more so in warm weather. Longevity is beastly. My opinion is skip it.i get a clean laundry sheet vibe from Nautica Voyage and it's not cloying at all. Does not have beastly longevity But most summer colognes don't. Sauvage has a clean laundry type of smell to me also, and it last forever.

It's wearable in summer in light doses, IMO, precisely because of the dryer sheet aspect. It's sweet, but with a soapy-fresh backbone that makes it relatively easy to wear in many situations. Don't worry about lasting power.

It has that "easy public appeal" nature (read: not challenging, synthetic, can be monotonous to Basenoters), but it does smell pretty good to most people, I think.

I don't get the dryer sheets at all. It is pretty thick and sweet, not light and fresh. To me.

It is quite nice and performs great though, but I would not wear it in summer. Not in the days at least but maybe nighttime.

I wear it in the Summer, and go three sprays. I've asked my family if it's cloying on me, and they say it's not strong at all. Go for it! It's a nice soapy vanillic-sandlewood scent.

I'm late to the party with this one but recently acquired a decant and loved it instantly! I get the resemblance to Joop! Homme but this seems more restrained and manages to sidestep all the negative connotations I've attached to Joop! as a consequence of the rampant and extreme overuse as a 'going out' fragrance. In the North of England fellas literally bathed in the stuff. Anyway, the Individuel is really nice and combines a classy smell with perfect performance. Bought a 50ml bottle today which I'm looking forward to giving some hammer in the next few months...!

Individuel has it's detractors but personally I love the stuff- and you just can't beat the price. It's one of my go-to chill-out scents.

Not just in the north of England, I might add!!! Joop! is supposed to be a 'sexy' smell but for me it has been ruined by over-spraying.

It's definitely a chill out type of fragrance - joyful, uplifting and comforting all in one - love it.

Same here rum. A colleague of mine wears it very sparingly (and it's the latest 'neutered' version) and it smells good on him but it still gives me flashbacks to being in a sweaty nightclub where you can taste Joop! In the air...!

I actually owned Individuel several years ago. I did enjoy it. The question I'm asking myself is do I need it when I already own Creed OS? My wife loves these types of scents on me. I may just pick it up next weekend.

I say that, as recently every scent I've postponed buying was already gone by the time I went back to the store. But there were multiples this time, so maybe I have a chance.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. I've never smelled Creed OS but I'm intrigued to sample it now to compare. Hope you manage to pick up the Individuel. Cheers!

Individuel is very long lasting for me. 3 sprays & I'm good for the day. I might go with 4 in winter.

My advice would be to only buy Individuel if you're running low on Original Santal. The two are so shockingly similar that I'd bet $100 you could be fooled into thinking you're smelling one when you're smelling the other - especially after the first 15 minutes. They're so shockingly close, and I'm not saying Individuel smells like a cheaper OS. In fact, there are some things about Individuel that I prefer over OS (and vice versa). Both are great. To even notice the differences I have to REALLY be nitpicking and making one heck of an effort to notice. If you own one there's no reason to own the other.

I have had my bottle of Individuel for some years now.

The Dryer Sheet accord always bothered me.

Last year, I also got a bottle of Joop Homme (it was not just cheap as it always is in most stores, but on offer and therefore super cheap).

I've not touched my bottle of Individuel since.

Yes, Joop Homme has to be used sparingly, even with the current watered down formulation one spray is enough. But I've figured if you are going to partake in a heliotrope bomb, you might as well go all in, no half measures. Indiividuel isn't all that "restrained" itself anyway.

It's wearable, versatile and has just the right volume and sillage. Nothing incendiary but certainly no dryer sheets. Worth the price of a bottle.

I love Individuel. Back in high school I definitely smelled it a lot, but whenever I would ask what the fragrance is I would just get told it's Axe or Tag bodyspray. I just found out what it was last year.

For me, it's definitely a lazy Sunday, chilled out kind of fragrance, although I do wear it at the office sometimes. For the price, you can't go wrong and you can still smell the influence it had on the industry to this day, in all of the super-sweet metallic bubblegum scents we have now.
