    Ok, so here's the plan!

I'm going to be upgrading the forum software to XenForo 2. It's similar enough to the current software, so that it won't be a culture shock, but it plays nicely on mobile, which will be useful for many of you.

Transferring almost 20 years worth of posts, is a fiddly job so I've obtained the services of a XenForo expert who has experience in transferring large vBulletin forums to XenForo. He's set up a test import for me to play around with so that I can make sure everything integrates properly (like wardrobes and the like). This will take a fair bit of re-coding to make it all compatible.

There are a few weird threads from the early history of Basenotes forums that don't work any more. I think these got lost in the conversion from YaBB to vBulletin in 2005ish. I'm going to aim to fix all these up before we move to XF, as well as convert all of the 6 months worth of Huddler posts, and the Yahoo board posts from 2000-2003. This should mean that once the conversion is done we will have the complete history of perfume discussion all in the one place.

The code for the directory and wardrobes needs an update. Ideally the way it handles different formats of fragrances (EDT, EDP) needs an overhaul, so this will take some work too. The system for allowing people to add fragrances needs to be better too.

The articles and news system is currently based on code that I have written. It's functional, but in terms of me getting people to help on the site it would help if it was something that worked a lot better on the back-end. So, I'm moving all the articles/news to Wordpress, which will make it easier to have contributors add pieces. As the article code is something I wrote, I'm going to have to deal with the conversion myself.

I'm not sure how long this will all take. But I aim to be better at communicating than I normally am and keep you all updated on the progress.

This sounds like an EXCELLENT plan! Love that you're going to go for total integration of all the "lost" stuff, too!

Oh...was that yours? Sorry, but hey! It certainly looks good on my side table.

Worry not, Grant will pour another for you.
Only the fool would take trouble to verify that his sentence was composed of ten as, three bs, four cs, four ds, forty-six es, sixteen fs, four gs, thirteen hs, fifteen is, two ks, nine ls, four ms, twenty-five ns, twenty-four os, five ps, sixteen rs, forty-one ss, thirty-seven ts, ten us, eight vs, eight ws, four xs, eleven ys, twenty-seven commas, twenty-three apostrophes, seven hyphens and, last but not least, a single!

Go ahead. Test the veracity of this (1960s I think) pre-computer generated masterpiece of self-referential sentences.
