Default Vintage Egoiste vs. Egoiste Cologne Concentree

I have a little bit of a dilemma. I am currently in negotiations with someone to pick up a 50ml bottle of Egoiste Cologne Concentree that is about 80% full. I have wanted to pick this one up for a while now, been laying in the cut for a few years looking for a decent price and I finally found one. Now, on to my problem I managed to find a 100ml vintage for almost $50 less. I have never got my nose on vintage Egoiste. I know what the Cologne Concentree performs like but time is of the essence and I need you guys to weigh in is it really worth the extra $50 bucks for less than half the juice?

Welcome to you MJM_77! Enjoy your time here at Basenotes! IMO, not really worth the extra $50 bucks for less than half the juice. I'd go with the 100ml Vintage Egoiste.

    Hednic,
I got a quick question for you. I was wondering are the 75ml bottles of Egoiste vintage? I know that it is all based 9ff of box and date code but I remember a thread where a fellow basenoter said the 75ml were not vintage and that they were a reformulation.

I concur with hednic that among vintages the difference is limited. They all have a beautiful sandalwood.

Not an expert on the type of bottles.

I can't answer that as I honestly don't know. My original Egoiste is 100ml. I wasn't even aware that it came in the 75ml size.

The vintage did come in 75 ml and 125 ml (and at times even 250 ml) splash, which was readily available at the time at least in Europe. What you need to be aware of is the following order of the words on the bottle, from top to bottom:

    ╔GO¤STE

    EAU DE TOILETTE
    CHANEL
    PARIS

A true vintage bottle will always have eau de toilette written ABOVE Chanel. I have experience with both and would, like hednic, go for the vintage. The difference is minimal.

When you're talking about vintage Egoiste and Egoiste concentree, my first thought is to get both, but I'm a fan, and collector; an enthusiast and obsessive.

As far as the relative quality of vintage Egoiste and Egoiste concentree, it's basically a tie. I might give the edge to Egoiste over Concentree, but then Concentree has the allure of being more scarce, which is fun.

75-ml splash bottles of Egoiste are vintage, and they're good stuff.

Ok, I'm giving you guys a quick update. I just picked up a 75ml splash vintage formulation of Egoiste for $105, that was 80% full. I couldn't pass this one up, it was too good of a price.
