Default Bleu de Chanel Parfum vs. EDT

Curious what the consensus is here between these two. I've been wearing the parfum version and am enjoying it. I get about the same performance out of the EDT. The Parfum seems a bit more classier and I much prefer it over the EDP. Fire away at your thoughts...

My preference might be EdT > Parfum > EdP.

Thing is, I haven't owned the EdT or EdP in a while, so not quite sure what I think of them now - though I smelled the EdP on a tester strip recently and it was good.

I seem to prefer the general overall smell of the EdT over the other two. The drydown of the Parfum was good, but I had to waft my shirt to smell it or something.

    I currently own none. /shrug

Scent very similar, I believe the edp has slightly better performance, but still not as good as I'd like.
Bleu is a good one, and got me my best compliment.

It's a good scent, although at 150$ there are FAR better options.

I pretty much enjoy all the BdCs almost equally, love that they all add their unique twist to the BdC DNA.

However, if I'd have to rank them based on everything, price included, the Parfum is at the bottom of the list. Sure, the smell is great, but the price is hardly justified.

The Parfum is much better, at least on paper. It is smooth and has little of the nastiness of the EdT. This style of perfumes is not for me, but I liked this one. If someone's saying that at $150 there are far better options, then I would say there are far better options than Bleu de Chanel EdT at $90-$100. This is easily best in the Bleu series. Heck, this might even be the best Chanel masculine if one takes out Antaeus, Egoiste and Pour Monsieur (not that the competition remains stiff ...).

Depends on the mood and also the time of the year. In wintertime i often reach out for the EDP and in the summer more often EDT. Haven't tried yet the pure Parfum.

Best of the Bleus IMO. The parfum to me is “niche like” quality. Where the EDT is harsh , this is smooth, mature, and quite dense. It’s thicker than the EDP. These are the best ones from the line

Honestly, this is definitely the best blue, and it is definitely more niche than anything. In the warm May nighttime breeze here in NYC, the scent opened up quite a bit from the initial dense concentrated smell, and suddenly the notes of the parfum began to dance and broaden. Suddenly this painting of black became multiple textures and tones of greys. I really enjoyed the way it opened up, and the amount of compliments that I received from one spray on the back of my neck, and one on my wrist was borderline crazy. This is an easy buy for me. I think of the EDT as the younger edgy brother, and this as the suave middle aged older brother, with a 100K job, a smooth suit, but still edgy enough to be modern.

I own all 3 and don’t see the point in comparing the EDT to the Parfum, they’re clearly different scents

The EDP to the Parfum is a much better comparison in my opinion as they’re more aligned, having said that I find the Parfum much more wearable and better in every other category (projection, longevity, scent) it’s smoother, and ends up being more pleasant to my nose than the EDP

It’s more expensive but that’s really then up to the buyer whether they’re willing to pay the difference, if the question is which is better then in my opinion

I have only smelled the EDP, as I just bought the sample online and wore it for the first time last week. I love how it smells but I would agree with those that say projection is pretty weak. I love how it smells on me, at least, and I can smell it, but everyone else seems to have to be really up close to smell it and that's with plenty of sprays too, but I didn't spray it on my clothes because I don't like to do that on the first wearing until I know better how the particular juice is going to perform on me, because once I did that with a scent, not realizing it was a projection monster and regretted, so I only do that on a case by case basis for weak performers.

I went with the EDP mostly because I thought it's notes in the pyramid would appeal to me the most of the BDCs and would be perfect for the season, too. Also, I think I smelled the EDT at the department store once and didn't really love it but it was good, and it just seemed to be the EDP was more my thing.

I only just found out there was a Parfum version, which I am interested in getting now, just to see, however, with the hot weather already happening in NY, it seems like a heavier scent better suited for Fall.

As someone who only owns the EDT, I'm actually very interested in hearing you compare the EDT to the parfum.

My problem with the EDT is that I find it too strong (intensity/projection) to wear to the office or in the evening to a restaurant/pub. So I find the scent to have the right kind of vibe for my desired usage, but off-the-chart performance in a bad way, even with 1 spray. I've only tested the EDP in-store, but it seemed to me like they transplanted a typical masculine oriental base (tonka, amber) into the EDT.

What I was really hoping with the parfum was that it would tone down some of the loud synthetic cedar and incense of the EDT, to where I could comfortably wear it in the day or evening, indoors, in fairly close proximity to others. How would you describe the change in scent from the EDT, and more importantly how would you describe the difference in projection and intensity?

    A few more items:

I had my lady test Edp vs parfum (I don’t own EDT). She preferred the Parfum. I’m guessing it’s because parfum is sweeter and more dense. Myself doing a side by side on skin the parfum is much better.

I don’t understand how a common guy who isn’t a fraghead could navigate these waters of seeing 3 bottles of bleu (edt vs Edp vs parfum). It’s kind of silly and can really confuse the average person walking by the counter. I’m sure many have sniffed one and bought the other (edt vs
Edp) not even realizing it was two scents, and maybe only noticed after paying ($ difference) or never figured it out.
