Just saw that Bortnikoff is working with Tobacco Absolute for his new collection. Could be fun!

    Excellent.
Now if ALD releases a tobacco fragrance in the next collection, I'll be more than set.

Hmmm. Symphony of Neroli gives a clue in the name. Sir Winston is probably the tobacco scent I assume? So, any clues on Zemfira?

I emailed Dmitry about Sir Winston and his reply was, "Hi. Yes. It is Tobacco - vanilla - Tuberose." Looks like another "Must Have" tobacco frag for me.

Considering the strength of bortnikoff's creations and the sometimes overly floral character, i'm glad to only see one flower mentioned in the entire concoction. Green Tea, Ambergris, tobacco? yes please.

Seconded. The notes sound tantalizingly good. I don't mind his florals to be honest as they add to the mystique of his blends.

Did they give a launch date?

Hope he takes a modulated approach on the tobacco-vanilla axis.

For the record I don't mind them in either. I just found them tweaked a bit too strong in Vetiver Nocturne, whereas they were used more conservatively in Musk Cologne which was more to my liking.

No word on release date yet.

Totally agree. Twists and turns of each venture has me excited to experience more. Perhaps my favorite house at the moment. Dmitry has the talent.

They all look very interesting. Zemfira is Bergamot, pink pepper, rose, cedar, Vietnamese oud, and Bengladeshi sandalwood.

Oh goodness... may have to press the pause button on refilling my near empty bottle of Malik Al Taif.

"Rose De Mai" is the note that seems to pop up in all of my favorite Roja creations: Aoud / Amber Aoud / Qatar / H The Exclusive Black Tier. As a rose-oud lover, the note listing has this one looking like it could be my favorite Bortnikoff since Bonheur.

Gonna be 3/3 by the end of the day. You simply cannot miss out on Dmitry's take on neroli!

Does anyone have any thoughts about Dmitry using fewer notes
in the 4th collection comparing to previous ones.

Are they less complex? More stable? More linear? In for e.g. Oud Maximus you have 6 - 8 notes on every level of the note pyramid.

Not necessarily less complex as naturals tend to have a lot more nuances & less predictability compared to modern ACs. Using fewer ingredients may also allow more breathing space for the notes to sing.

I’m betting on a September release to beat rival Areej Le Dore at the races, and personally I’m hoping these are also available in travel sizes. Not that I’m worried as I can always count on strifeknot. Liking the looks of these so far.

    Thank you for your input.

    Really intriguing this is.

I´m really looking forward to Zemfira and Sir Winston. But will probably be ending up liking Neroli the most.

I want to share my experience here. I recently got splits of Ensar EO.1 Edp and Bortnikoff's Mysterious Oud to compare head to head. I consider both to be on the same hierarchy of fragrance quality. The following note listings for these fragrances are:

Ensar EO1 EdP: rose, oud, leather, tobacco, tea

Bortnikoff Mysterious Oud: Bergamot, cardamom, amber, orange, tea rose, jasmine, cinnamon, clove, myrrh, castoreum, pink pepper, nutmeg, tonka bean, oud, sandalwood, tolu balsam, opoponax, cedar, lotus, labdanum, vanilla

What I noticed about MO is that you're dealing with more unique aromas that you can't quite identify. My guess that it is because of the various notes blending into eachother as they hit your nose to make unique smells. On the other hand (literally and figuratively) when I smelled the Ensar, the quality was just as nice and pleasant I just noticed that i was able to more clearly pick up on the notes as they came and went. Like "okay... wow theres the tea.... oudy base, oop there's the rose note".

so i think this goes to Diamondflame's point of "allowing more breathing space for notes to sing". I don't think they will be any less enjoyable but rather more "streamlined" if that's the correct word.

I’m buying all 3 blind. I love Bortnikoff’s work. Nothing he has done to me isn’t a 9/10 or better.

I just bought the new Musk Cologne. It just seems too good.

learned my lesson with areej's 4th collection and bortnikoffs 2nd/3rd.

i've found perfumers are like music artists. yeah you may be excited for the entire album, but there's some tracks you just don't mind skipping through.

areej's 4th collection: Baikal 10ml worthy, Koh/Luwak 5ml worthy, Malik Al Taif full bottle worthy

    bortnikoff's 2nd/3rd collection: maximus/nocturne 5ml, Exquise 10ml, Monarch & both Colognes full bottle worthy

of course those assessments are just for my own personal feeling toward them, not a suggestion for anyone else. i'll be taking my time and sampling although with great eagerness to love them all.

I wore Musk Cologne for the first time since acquiring a decant of it. Wow! The musk in this is very animalic, it made me happy that I was testing this at home, not walking into a group of people with this on. It didn't smell 'soapy' or like 'animal fur' it smelled like the backside of an animal. Serious. But the way the citrus and oud/wood notes are blended...very quickly it morphs into an entirely different scent that (a bit like L'Heure Exquise) is incredibly unique and difficult to compare to any other scent. Sure, because I own decants of Musk Khabib and Amber Cologne it's hard not to compare these 3 scents. Still...Musk Cologne is it's own animal (pun intended).
