Default Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte - defective bottle?

    Hey,

This is my first post here! I've recently started my journey into the world of fragrances and I'm very happy to have found this place!

I have one question regarding a pefume I've purchased recently: I bought a 100ml bottle of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino Forte a couple of days ago. The perfume seems to be extremely weak. It doesn't hold on to my skin more than 30 minutes, nor does it smell that much when sprayed onto a paper stick. Is it possible that the perfume might be defective? It does seem a little bit wierd to go back to the store and ask them to exchange a defective perfume... :/

If the bottle is defective, you should have no problem returning it.

Try applying an unscented moisturizing lotion to your skin prior to applying the fragrance and see if that helps.

I understand, but it seems a little "wierd" to return a perfume. It seems like that they'll tell me that the perfume itself is fine and that the problem lies with me.

I've already tried an unscented lotion and also the Neroli Portofino lotion together with the perfume. The latter helped a bit, but not much.

Other options - apply more sprays or spray your clothes

Tried spraying my shirt earlier today. Asked my sister if she could feel anything - an extremely faint (skin) scent, was her answer. So I'm pretty sure that I'm not the issue, as I'm not the only one not smelling anything. :/

Freshies have a huge problem: most of them don't last or project, specially in neroli theme.

Have you tried the tester before purchase? This particular perfume is known for short longevity.

First time I tried it I only sprayed just once on my arm. That one spray did last quite a time.

I sprayed myself crazy today with the “defective” bottle while wearing the Neroli Portofino body lotion underneath, I also sprayed my clothes. I asked around and people could only feel it if they were about one-two inches away. I will actually go back to the store tomorrow and try to get it replaced. I’ve heard that Mandarino Amalfi has bad projection and longetivity, but it actually lasts on me compared to the Neroli Portofino Forte that vanishes in seconds.

It's Neroli Portofino. It's not going to last long. None of them do on my skin. Beautiful five or so minutes, though.

So, I went to the store today and exchanged it for the regular Neroli Portofino (plus the body spray). The saleswomen said that she could exchange it for a new Forte bottle, but I would be unable to return it again if it didn’t work on me. We tried spraying again in the store and the issue might be that the Forte version just doesn’t work on me. The saleswomen said that she couldn’t smell it on my after ten minutes, but the ordinary Neroli Portofino was noticeable. I can still smell the sample on me, even though it wasn’t sprayed onto a pulse point. The Forte was sprayed on my wrist and has completely vanished by now.

How come that the Forte version doesn’t work on my skin, while the ordinary one does? I would understand it if were two totally different perfumes, but they’re more or less the same. Shouldn’t the Forte last better on me, or is this an ordinary thing?
