Default A snapshot of your top three houses today

...not to worry, it’s only for today. Understood: preferences can change at any time.

    My three:
    Chanel
    Goutal
    Mugler

These are the houses I have been wearing repeatedly this year so far and can’t seem to get enough of; ergo they must be my top ones.

What are your top three and why do you like them right now?

    Hmmmmm...

Dior - because they house multiple favorites of mine, and I happen to be wearing my newest Dior acquisition today as well (Dior Homme Eau)! Fahrenheit, Leather Oud, Oud Ispahan, Dior Homme Parfum, Eau Sauvage Parfum.

Others are harder as I don't have as many by them probably, so I'm not really sure.

Creed comes to mind because they have such each to like scents, yet I only own 2 types right now (and only loving one of them), down from 9-11+ types.

Maybe between Hermes and Chanel.. because of TdH Parfum, Eau d'Hermes, Bel Ami Vetiver (oh how could I forget Ambre Narguile, hehe) & Pour Monsieur Concentree, and Sycomore EdP (and Antaeus!).

Another thing that can trip people up is that they're absolute favorite frag is the only one they have from that house, or that there's one they really like from a popular fragcomm. house yet they're 'meh' on others or haven't sniffed them yet. Like with MFK, I only currently own Absolue Pour le Soir despite smelling nearly the entire range - that may soon change with a couple Oud Mood extraits in the future though.

For example - Kouros. My #1 fragrance. It's literally the only YSL I currently own, lol. Hopefully that'll change and get more YSL's! Gotta try Tuxedo.

But then again there's Guerlain.. which houses Guerlain Vetiver, Homme L'Eau Boisée, Songe d'un Bois d'Été, and SDV.

ln terms of what l own/wear the most, probably Guerlain, Annick Goutal & L'Artisan.

Honourable mentions would go to Malle, Montale & Tom Ford. These all have outstanding fragrances that l don't wear as often, mainly because they're too strong or polarising for my workplace.

Seem to have more of these in my collection than other houses:
    Dior
    Creed
    Tom Ford

Very reliable choices and mostly classics. I like established brands because they seem to attempt to create fragrances that will last on the market, which fits my repetitive wearing style. I also like alternating fragrances within a house.

Why do you like the number three so much?

Three most worn - Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Serge Lutens

Own most from - Serge Lutens, Guerlain, and Dior and Hermes being joint 3rd.

At the moment.......it's Chanel (after taking a long break from this house because of not so great formula tweaks, I'm back enjoying perfumes from this house), Guerlain & Serge Lutens.

Honourable mention to 4160 Tuesdays as I enjoy this house very much! I only own two perfumes from this house at the moment so it didn't make the top three.

There are several niche houses where I love one of their perfumes but don't like any others or I haven't explored the house enough to own more than one.

I can easily whittle it down to two these days: Dior for pleasantness and versatility, Serge Lutens for something special / moody / evocative.

There are other brands I love, but these two are my mainstays.

I'll agree with Dior - Oud Ispahan and Leather Oud are crackers alongside Eau Sauvage Parfum.

The one house I've made a conscious effort to buy into has to be Xerjoff. I've enjoyed everything I've been presented with, even a couple more 'challenging' wears.

Aside from that I'm not sure...

What I’ve been wearing most this year:

    Chanel (by a long shot)
    Guerlain
    Dior

(Close behind are L’Artisan, Lolita Lempicka, and Hermès)
My only regrets in life are the people I haven't stood up for,
and the perfumes I've thrown away.

Chanel and Guerlain for me, for these reasons exactly! And also, Chanels work anywhere, anytime. They're always right for the occasion. Guerlain and I go back years so I have some sentimentality for this house. If I absolutely had to, I could live on these two houses alone.

To keep my interest up in the perfume hobby itself though, I need a funky, promising artisanal house, with a perfumer who has good knowledge of classics. To that end, I'll take 4160 Tuesdays. As CuddleCat mentioned, I don't have a lot of them (yet) but it's a house several of us have loved exploring over the last couple of years. The perfumer is young and talented; still plenty of time to add more of them to the collection. And I honestly won't be surprised if my answers are the same a year from now. A bit odd for a BNer, yes, but I knows what I likes!

I have to admit these houses are unknown to me. I am kind of ignorant about niche. They must have some winners to be the current top three!

    Right now I would say:
    - Guerlain (best classic brand for me)
    - Parfums de Nicolai (Always very elegant and high quality scents)
    - Parfums d'Empire (Adventurous, artful and high quality. Not all scents I would wear, but I can admire the craftsmanship of all scents I smelled from the brand)

    1. Chanel (Pour Monsieur, Pour Monsieur Concentree, Egoiste, Egoiste Concentree, Bois Noir, Platinum Egoiste, Antaeus, Antaeus Sport, Allure Homme Edition Blanche, Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, No. 5, No. 19, Coco)

    2. Dior (Fahrenheit, Dior Homme, Dior Homme Intense, Jules + I loved sampling vintage women's Dior, and some vintage Eau Sauvage would be nice)

    3. Guerlain (Eau de Cologne Imperiale and Habit Rouge are the main two I enjoy in full bottles, I have some other full bottles that I'm not into as much - Heritage, Coriolan - and a bunch of samples that I love - L'Heure Bleue, Vol de Nuit, Jardins de Bagatelle, Chant d'Aromes)

When I explore more, I find more houses I like, but I also find more fragrances from these houses I like.

    EDIT: Okay...HOUSES. (I did fragrances)

GUERLAIN: I think their current iteration of Vetiver is fantastic and I think L'Instant has also gotten a bit better. They've just come out with L'Homme Ideal Intense which I plan to pick up. I've also been wearing Guerlain Homme L'Eau a ton, and today my SOTD is Guerlain Homme Intense. Habit Rouge L'Eau has also become part of my summer wardrobe. Overall, it's just great quality in a very nice presentation at a bargain price (about $40 per 100ml for their regular men's releases).

ARMANI: I have to admit, I'm surprised to see them here. But looking over my wardrobe there's several from Armani that I"ve been wearing and enjoying a lot lately--AdG Essenza and Absolu, Stronger With You, Armani Code Sport and Sport Athlete, and Armani Prive Vetiver Babylone. Stronger With You is a really nice scent. I think it's overlooked because it seems a little generic at first, but it's actually very nice. Sport Athlete is perfect on a really hot day. And even AdG Absolu is growing on me more and more. It's well done for what it is, which is basically an amalgamation of everything trendy in men's contemporary mainstream fragrances.

CREED: They'll always be in the top 3. Between Virgin Island Water, Spice and Wood, Royal Oud and Green Irish Tweed, Creed has 4 fragrances that are more or less in my top 20 or top 10. That's impressive. I also like their latest men's release, Viking.

I'll go by ownership, since my wearing is all over the place and I can't spot much of a pattern:

    1) Dior
    2) Guerlain
    3) three-way tie: MPeG, YSL, Hermes

That would actually line up with my "shoot from the hip" top 3-5 houses, plus maybe L'Artisan, Bruno Fazzolari, and I'm on a bit of Cartier kick at the moment right now, for whatever reason.

Number one house would have to be Serge Lutens. It’s my most owned and worn house with some of my very favorites and most loved scents. Next is Guerlain. Third place is probably always revolving, with Tauerville narrowly beating out several other stellar houses. I went on a bit of a bender, buying all the Flash scents ... can’t beat them for their price, quality, and over-all niceness of the perfumer/owner.
    I've trademarked the color bleu
