Same, finally gonna get a bottle of L'air du Desert Marocain this winter.
I've been planning on blind buying some Lalique stuff too. It's cheap enough & I've been overall impressed by what I've smelled from them so far.
I just keep putting it off for some reason.

Also need to get around to smelling Guerlain homme.

And like Zealot said, there's a handful of vintage & under the radar bottles im gonna get, but not comfortable saying until I buy them.

Step two: “Wait a minute... that’s a really well blended scent. I actually REALLY like this...’

Ha, I can relate! I've done that with all of my creeds(except royal oud, which was love at first sniff).
Most notably Aventus. Cringed when I first smelled it. Year or 2 later I bought some samples, meh, but wore it for my woman who loved it. Next summer rolled around(this summer), and it's become one of my favorites.

When you decide to pull the trigger on Royal Oud, definitely seek out an older bottle/batch code.

Say it ain't so! Are the newer batches weaker? Has the scent changed? Any pointers on what to look for? Thanks!

Still undecided, but will most likely go, if and when in doubt, for something by the house of Bogart (not because they are very inexpensive thus also not as a fallback solution as much as simply enjoying their no-nonsense, down to earth yet also great performance and creative consistency).

Caftan is my next one from the line, so nice choice there. From the YSL line, I'm looking at Agar Ebene next.

They are, and it has. Been a while since I read anything on it, but I believe you want 2014 or before. Older version is thick, rich and magnificent, one spray is all that's needed. In my 2010(one of the first, if not THE first batch), you get that heavenly dry down right from the start. It's extremely opulent. Newer version just smells thinner. Not too different, but different. Kinda like 'royal oud light.' Only have a 15ml decant from 2016 to compare, so I can't speak on if it's gotten better or worse since.
If it's not pictured or mentioned, just asks the seller of the sticker on the bottom of the box and you'll find an older bottle, they're out there.

Lots of considerations, but I know the next areej Le Dore is one of them and a couple of zoologists too. If only Auphorie started making bintourong and eternal voyage again... There's loads of stuff on my plate to buy still. I just can't get over this hobby, it was supposed to be a one off.😅

I’m deciding whether to add Versace Dylan Blue to my wardrobe $46 for a 3.4oz sounds good to me. Also ready to add the new Hermes Terre D’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver to my wardrobe, will be the first Hermes I pay retail for can’t see waiting for discounts on it!

I would love to find an older bottle of Kouros. Zoologist says they're doing a T-Rex this fall... it's so ridiculous, I think I'm interested.
