Ashoka by Neela Vermeire. I'm running through my wishlist, which has gotten out of hand, to see which fragrances I still "need". This will probably stay on the list, though the price tag is hefty.

    Thierry Mugler B*Men today
Only the fool would take trouble to verify that his sentence was composed of ten as, three bs, four cs, four ds, forty-six es, sixteen fs, four gs, thirteen hs, fifteen is, two ks, nine ls, four ms, twenty-five ns, twenty-four os, five ps, sixteen rs, forty-one ss, thirty-seven ts, ten us, eight vs, eight ws, four xs, eleven ys, twenty-seven commas, twenty-three apostrophes, seven hyphens and, last but not least, a single!

Go ahead. Test the veracity of this (1960s I think) pre-computer generated masterpiece of self-referential sentences.

Healing vibes to PerfumedLady and teardrop! (teardrop, I had a cracked tooth/root canal/crown a few years back - It's no fun, but I found the temporary crown a big help, and then once it's done, the recovery is, too! PM me if I can offer any 'been there, done that' support...)

All the mentions during the heatwave got me thinking I needed to try L'Artisan Seville a L'Aube, so procured a sample and am wearing it as my SOTD.

Maybe it's because I've got the sparkling Fragonard Fleur d'Oranger as my favorite orange blossom scent, but while Seville a L'Aube has notes I absolutely adore, it's not working for me right now. Something about the beeswax, I think, is pulling the whole scent flat and lugubrious on me. Ah, well. I can tell it's well-constructed and am glad it works on so many! Probably just as well for me that the (cheaper) Fragonard works better on my skin.

    Thrilling Thursday, all!

Sville l'Aube fragrance notes: Petitgrain, Petitgrain citronnier, Orange blossom, Beeswax, Incense resinoid, Luisieri lavender, Siam benzoin resinoid.

Belated congrats to Mike! We don't call him a "Basenotes Institution" for nothing! Thanks for all the excellent posts!

Thank you for the good thoughts, everyone! I think I'm getting a less severe round with the virus than my hubby got; I'm hanging in there ok. Not fun but could be worse! You're right, N.Cal summer viruses are not as common as winter ones, but it does happen. It's been going around this side of the country for a couple of weeks now, that I know of. Not sure if it has (or will) spread out West! My husband encounters a very high number of people during his workday, so he usually does bring home whatever's going around. Summer colds are probably easier to avoid in different work environments.

tdem, you smell good today! I'm excited to smell the new Meteorites but I think it won't beat the stunning original.

I can smell, but I need a gentle scent today and Yardley Iris it is. Have a great day, everyone!

Thanks, ComDiva! But as l said, l already had one of these done some years ago, so the prospect doesn't frighten me. lt's just the inconvenience of so many visits to the dentist that irks. And eating very carefully so as not to disturb the temporary patch job.

    Remembering silentrich today.

Wearing the new Bleu de Chanel Parfum. My wife said I smelled "so good" this morning. I feel like this one smells pretty similar to the Eau de Parfum version (which I actually like a little bit more than this.) I'm not sure this release was necessary.

I'm giving Liberty Island a test run today. My hopes are always low for a Bond No. 9 offering, but I like Chinatown and anything can happen. *answers phone, lets dog out, takes out garbage*

Bottom line is I have four more LI samples to lay around my already crowded desk. We'll see how well Liberty Island scrubs, and then I'll luxuriate in No. 22 parfum and contemplate what kind of trouble I can get into today. The sky's the limit!

I thought about keeping it classy but I decided against it.

BRM85282 & rynegne - thanks for mentioning Silentrich, he is missed.
Comdiva - I never liked that L'Artisan either...and I must have tried it 3-4 times.

Thanks everyone for making me feel special yesterday & today. Like I say every time that I pass some sort of significant # of posts: It's easy for me to post a lot on BN. I love fragrances, and I love talking about them and I like being on a computer. Win, win, win.

Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence today. I picked up a rollerball for a song on Nordstrom Rack's website, and I really like it. Marc Jacobs in general seems to get a lot of hate, but I enjoy Decadence and its two flankers. I've seen a few reviews that compare Divine Decadence to pickle juice (blech!), but luckily I don't get that at all. On me, it's a weird but pleasant combo of honeysuckle, saffron, and vanilla. My guess is that the "champagne accord" in the top notes turns synthetic and gross depending on body chemistry.

I would bet that this could turn cloying in the heat, but on weekdays I pretty much move between my frigid house and my frigid car and my frigid office, so even in Texas I'm not too worried about the temperature.

    Happy day-before-Friday, everyone!
