I've seen a few reviews that compare Divine Decadence to pickle juice (blech!), but luckily I don't get that at all. On me, it's a weird but pleasant combo of honeysuckle, saffron, and vanilla. My guess is that the "champagne accord" in the top notes turns synthetic and gross depending on body chemistry.

I would bet that this could turn cloying in the heat, but on weekdays I pretty much move between my frigid house and my frigid car and my frigid office, so even in Texas I'm not too worried about the temperature.

    Happy day-before-Friday, everyone!

Yes, ma'm! I kinda liked Decadence, too, at least on Round One. A recent revisit didn't do as much for me, but I still liked it.

ComDiva--I find Seville a L'Aube a little tempramental in heat. Even though it's made from "hot weather" notes, the waxiness gives it a little heft, and I find that it wears better in spring than it does in blazing summer, when a simpler and more direct orange blossom works better (for me, anyway).

Hazel5--that is sooo smart. I keep putting off doing another big clean-out of my wishlist, because it's absurdly long, and much of it doesn't interest me at anymore, I don't think; my tastes still change and sometimes I surprise myself.. It would be significantly cheaper to just re-sample them all than occasionally pick a bottle off of it and then discover that I made a mistake.

Speaking of mistakes, I revisited Clinique'e Beyond Rose today, and--hell, no. Nope nope nope nope. I need to avoid anything from the Lauder company that begins with the word "Beyond." (Except maybe Beyond Love, which is just fine). I think I made it all of 5 minutes this time. I put a little on my shirt, and it's behaving better there, but I sitll don't like it; there's something in there that turns my stomach. Now, after a good scrub, I'm wearing a sample of Memo Ilha do Miel, which has a great neroli note in it; but, like most Memo fragrances, it smells kinda synthetic and a little too strong to my nose. I don't hate all synthetics, by any means; but with some of these materials, more becomes too much; I'd rather top up a nice fragrance than have an otherwise charming one wear out its welcome by getting louder than it needs to be. although I may just still be smarting from Beyond Rose (omg, it was almost as bad as Montale's Roses Musk--kind of the same idea and the same problem, only less sweet on the surface, which makes the whole thing even weirder, because it smells completely different far away than it does up close, and not in a good way). What does this mean in Portuguese--"Honey Island"? (and why is it in Portuguese?)

I was just thinking the same thing when I put up that post. The bottles themselves are kinda standard, but I like the graphic design (they sorta remind me of wallpaper patterns but they also kinda look ilke scarves), and they look great all arranged together like that.

Yes, the graphics are great. They would make great scarf designs.

I'm guessing you get a lot of our weather here in Chicago about a day or half a day later. Same here. Only a few small systems producing lightning and thunder. But, we've had loads of rain dropped on us several times causing flash flooding.

    Davidoff Cool Water tonight
Only the fool would take trouble to verify that his sentence was composed of ten as, three bs, four cs, four ds, forty-six es, sixteen fs, four gs, thirteen hs, fifteen is, two ks, nine ls, four ms, twenty-five ns, twenty-four os, five ps, sixteen rs, forty-one ss, thirty-seven ts, ten us, eight vs, eight ws, four xs, eleven ys, twenty-seven commas, twenty-three apostrophes, seven hyphens and, last but not least, a single!

Go ahead. Test the veracity of this (1960s I think) pre-computer generated masterpiece of self-referential sentences.
