Default New Fragrance: Aramis Tobacco Reserve

Aramis has launched Aramis Tobacco Reserve, a new fragrance for men.

A new interpretation of an iconic classic, Aramis Tobacco Reserve epitomises the Aramis man in every way; alluring, sophisticated and complex.

Created as an eau de parfum for heightened intensity, a masculine heart of bold, tobacco leaf is enveloped by Clary Sage and the subtle sweetness of Tonka Bean.

Additional notes include cassis, nutmeg, orris and oakmoss

This could be awesome! I love tobacco and iris and tonka. Cassis was in tobacco oud if I remember correctly. Anyone get a chance at this one yet?

Can’t wait to sample. Likely to end up as a blind buy.

Lately I’ve been loving Aramis fragrances. Distinctive, well-priced. Guys could do far worse in this mid-priced category (and frequently do).

Sadly about as likely as seeing Aramis 901 or JHL 2: Electric Custom-Blended Boogaloo

    But one can hope.

I'd like a re-issue of Chromatics, Basix, and Aramis Life in a new Gentleman's set.

Which, quite frankly, is the most ridiculous and redundant thread on Basenotes. Even more so when you keep referring back to it in this fashion.

Hope they dial down the tonka bean. I’m awfully tired of ‘sweetened’ tobacco. Why can’t they just focus on tobacco’s aromatic aspects?

There is a lot of pointless rubbish there, and the interesting releases get lost.

+1 Glad someone else notices this bumptious crap.

Surprised no one's mentioned the perfumer is the great Edouard Flechier (Havana, Une Rose, Montana Patfum d'Homme, Davidoff, Poison, etc)

I think it'll be unnecessarily sweet, hopefully not. Aramis usually does good things.

Personally, I hope they dial up everything! These edp's today don't even have the strength of the cologne formulations of the 1980's. I'm usually disappointed with the performance of every edp I buy.

In the meantime, BNers are encouraged to try Lynx/Axe Tobacco and Amber. Nice scent, great value. The deodorant is nice, too.

Must admit....I bought the Amber, Tobacco & Vanilla/Oud and they are pretty decent for bargain basement prices!!

Yes I agree!! Fragrances nowadays with the exception of a few really lack the strength and depth of those 25+ years ago. When I started going out to pubs and clubs in the mid 90's I can remember spraying a fragrance 3 or 4 times before I went out and I could smell it the whole night and well into the following morning. That rarely happens today. I often have to top up.

I spotted this in my local John Lewis branch today. I think Diamondflame is going to be disappointed because I find this very heavy on tonka a good few hours after I sprayed it on my arm.

It's over 5 hours since I sprayed it on my arm and the sweet drydown is still going strong. The sweet tonka heavy stage developed quickly on my skin so it's been the most remarkable thing about the scent to my nose.

It's a dry and humid summer evening in my part of the UK. The sweetness isn't what I would usually want this time of year. I think it is more suited to winter.

    It's worth trying.

Thanks dan, I had it in mind to look in John Lewis when I next had the chance. Disappointed to hear it is tonka-heavy as it's not a favourite note of mine when dialled up - especially in warmer weather (though the summer we're experiencing at present isn't anywhere near the typical UK summer, ie: rain...!). I'll still give it a try though when I see it. Cheers!

Not to be negative or anything, but I don't expect much in terms of new releases from Aramis. Sure their old collection is good, but the constant flankers of Aramis ( original) have never really been received well. When a mainstream brand mentions tobacco, I read that as candy sweet tonka.
Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Pomegranate Noir, Midnight in Paris EDP, Feeling Man, Essence of John Galliano, Azzaro pour Homme (vintage),...etc.

Seeking decant/sample of Aramis Calligraphy Rose, Penhaligon's Esprit de Roi, PdE Ambre Russe, Jil Sander Feeling Man ....etc. I have samples to swap.
