Default Is Atelier Cologne better than Acqua di Parma and Creed?

Just basing my question on what is available at the fragrance store at the casino hotel I am currently staying at.

I’d like to bring home a fragrance from said store and those houses are somewhat safe coz my girlfriend has a sensitive nose.

I feel like a sauvage would be too strong for her.

Stuff she likes on me Bvlgaris, Mugler Cologne and Gendarme. Super safe ones.

The one I have my eye on is Atelier Cologne’s Bergamot Soleil or something like that.

    Suggestions?

If I were to judge based on the best 5 from each house, Creed wins.

For me, not better or worse, just different.

All three brands are overpriced for what they are. They also share a trait of being safe and inoffensive. If you shop around though you can score deals on all three brands, for certain perfumes that have been around for awhile, or perhaps didn't sell as well as they'd hoped. I would never pay full retail for any from these brands.

Since you're looking at Bergamot Soleil, you might also want to consider Pomélo Paradis, Orange Sanguine, Cédrat Enivrant.

They do citrus very well. The only knock against Atelier Cologne is that they don't last as long as some, and the excessive pricepoint.

For me, Creed have more interesting fragrances than the other 2 and by some way with AdP

Like Atelier better than Creed and AdP. I think the best of AdP matches the best of Atelier, there's just more Atelier's... although as I still have some discovering to do on AdP, that gap could close.

I am an outlier on Basenotes in that I don't like Creed very much, something about their overall themes that tend not to work for me. I find no more than a handful of them good, and only a couple great. So no contest, Atelier by far there.

One of my fave Atelier's that gets very little discussion is Trefle Pur.

no, i find their DNA a bit strange at least for the citrus based offerings.

Among those 3, Creed is the best, IMO, and they should have several super safe fragrances your wife should like.

However, they are more expensive than Atelier Cologne.

No, I think Creed is the best. If you pitted Creed's top 10 against Atelier's, Creed would annihilate them. I enjoy Atelier more than AdP also, but I wouldn't say they're better necessarily, just different. It's interesting though because all 3 of these "niche" companies feel more like high end designer scents...they're all in that ballpark of 'easily appealing, mainstream niche.'

Out of the 3, I would say Creed is the best to my nose. Overpriced, though they may be. I would put ADP second and Atelier last. I find that the Ateliers that I have tried are thin and have a synthetic edge that I just don't like.

I would say Hermes (jardins or eau de colognes) are safe as well based on what you described.
Eau de Narcisse Bleu or Concentree d'Orange Vert are beautiful stuff.

    Chanel Coromandel

I am of the same opinion. Atelier is a nice line, but Creed has better scents and of course, AdP Colonia is a classic and so many of their others are great.

No, Atelier isn't better than AdP or Creed. Check out Millesime Imperial or Green Irish Tweed.

Just different. It depends on your styles. Not an ADP fan, but like both Creed and Atelier. I own and enjoy more Atelier Cologne scents, but that’s because I tend to enjoy simpler scents, and I love the Eau de Cologne style of their citruses. Creed seem a bit richer, and as a generalization have more substantial bases.

I cant really guess at your wife’s tastes, but there are plenty of “safe” scents from all three.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

I think Atelier does the most realistic citruses (right up there with Hermes, maybe even more spot on), but longevity seems to be an issue with many of their citrus offerings. Grand Neroli is one of the most fleeting fragrances I've ever encountered. Smells amazing though.

Your gf would appreciate it if you went with Atelier Cologne. They smell light and airy and not too synthetic.

You might like the smell of Creed better but if the people around you are sensitive, I think Atelier cologne is the best option.

I'd say my preference is Creed > Atelier > ADP. I might perhaps enjoy Atelier more if performance were better.

In the absence of objective criteria, it is all relative. If you happen to enjoy A more than you enjoy B then A is better. If you enjoy C even more than either A or B then C is clearly the best of the 3. Every house has its share of duds IMO.

Personally I prefer Creed among the 3 houses but Acqua di Parma has some nice fragrance as well. I don't care for Atelier.

In terms of general offerings, I would go with Creed any day. For what it’s worth, I would also pick Atelier before AdP. I generally find the latter a bit too much on the mature side but it seems like a solid house.

+1 on Pomelo Paradis if you are looking for a citrus scent. Seeing that you like MC and Gendarme, I would also recommend to try out Bois Blonds if you want something along those lines with a slight twist of spice and incense.

    will try pomelo paradis

i think the selection is pretty poor even if they carry a lot of brands

was looking to try grey vetiver

    no dice

they seem to only have feminine creeds and not much adp

pure malt might be the most recognizable to me upon reading basenotes threads over the years but that is too strong for me to purchase now

No house is objectively better than the other.

Although Creed as a company has an underhanded history of price elevation and batch variation.

Creed is best IMO. No matter how you slice it. Top 3 from each, top 10... top 20... doesn't matter. Most original, most complimented, most well-rounded offerings, most versatile, most fans, most haters.

    But worst prices.

But, you don't smell a house, you smell a fragrance - you just need to find the one that works for you - regardless of which house it comes from.
