Histoires de Parfums - great stuff and somewhat overlooked; I recommend 1828 Jules Verne to start.

Parfums de Nicolai - well done stuff, subtle craftsmanship

    Tauer Perfumes - transporting
Currently wearing: Jungle pour Homme by Kenzo

For a time I was obsessed with New York Intense. Now I calm down a bit.

    Tauer is a respectable brand.
The French have a phrase for it. The bastards have a phrase for everything.

For me there are but a few:

Sultan Pasha Attars: the quality, compositions, diversity, and brilliance behind this brand is worth any cost, and ultimately the prices are quite affordable with what you are getting, and with how little application is utilized per wear.

Zoologist: great concept, cheap prices, wide variety, innovative blends, and a true series of masterpieces honest to their concept. Something for everybody, and Victor is a beautiful soul through and through.

Bogue: High-end modernity: this is the end-point of french perfumery to me. Antonio is a genius, and his incredibly hard work shines through with several brilliant thesis-rendered-fragrant homeruns. Nothing about these fragrances is sub-par in any way.

Vero Profumo: It's neat to have varied angles on the same total composition, and Vero is adept at perceiving the differences that emerge within the gaps that would normally be present in a concept only executed through a single composition. These fragrances gleam in a similar way to a lot of luxe editions of designer brands, but with more daring ideals and more refined ingredients.

Parfums Dusita & Papillon Artisan Perfumes : Archetypes represented olfactorily. Conceptual breakdowns of familiar ideas to us, done as if by taking 2inx2in photographs and blowing them up into mile long 8k resolution images. Astonishingly beautiful.

    Ensar Oud: Enough said.

Not sure if they are considered to be a niche house but my vote goes to Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier.
Their Parfum d'Habit is a living proof.
