The discontinued Coach Leatherware No.02 smelled like fairly plain leather to me, like a baseball glove. It's labeled an EDP and performs about like one (somewhat restrained sillage but pretty good longevity). It's the only one of the three in the series that I didn't buy, specifically because it lacked the interesting embellishments found in No.01 and No.03, but it might be along the lines of what you want, possibly worth seeking out a sample on the bay while it can still be had for reasonable (~retail or slightly below) prices. In other news, somebody actually paid $325 for a bottle of No.03.

My take on Ferrari Uomo is that it's mostly leather, classy and refined, and somewhat reminds me of a car interior (could be the branding) but is not totally devoid of other notes. Specifically, I get a lot of nutmeg. Apart from the leather & nutmeg, any other notes seem fairly far in the background. It is definitely not sweetened up like TL & La Yuqawam and their ilk. What really holds it back is its mediocre sillage and rather poor longevity on skin. I don't recall how much better it does on fabric as I haven't worn it in a while, but I have traditional EDCs that perform better. Yes, it's dirt cheap to blind buy, but if this sort of performance is going to bother you then you might want to pass on it.

Have you tried Lonesome Rider from Tauer? It was a very dry leather note to me but the base goes into a spicy accord that might not be what you're looking for, just thought I'd throw that suggestion out there.

Something like the Demeter but niche/stronger would be cool.

Now this sounds more like it. The reviews make it seem like a linear, minimalistic scent with a strong focus on the leather which is perfect but the commentary is all over the place with some saying its smells like cheap synthetic trash that vanishes in a couple of moments and others claiming 10 hours of intimate projection and gushing about its price/quality ratio. What say ye cpp?
What I say is : the Ferrari Uomo stick deodorant is good, and its scent lasts pretty well on me. It is pretty linear, there's a touch of citrus at the start, then leather and nothing but. I haven't tried the EDT - the reviews made me wonder - but I'm now wishing I'd bought it when allbeauty had it at 50ml for £12.
I find it makes a useful, unobtrusive base for wearing other leathery frags.

    How about Etro Gomma ?

My bad Scott. Just noticed the first fragrance you mentioned was Coach Leatherware No.2. I answered your thread with CLW No.2.

It has to be some special type of birch/cade distillery that creates this petrol leathery woody scent, but there are no aroma chemicals that match this description to a T and no combination of ingredients that I can find that will give the petrol leather vibe. Perhaps it's another ingredient under the guise of birch, some kind of synthetic that is kept from normal perfumers? I hate to think this way but I am starting to lose hope. 2-iso-butyl-quinoline is not available anywhere for purchase so I am leading toward maybe that.

Closest that I have come across is Montale’s Aoud Cuir d’Arabie.

    Then the Fetish/Bel Ami/Pure distance M cousins.

    Then Knize Ten Gold Edition.

Then Tom Ford Tuscan Leather/Ombré Leather..

There is leather, but I wouldn’t even call it a leather-based fragrance let alone a leather-only fragrance

I agree it's not leather only. Each version of Dior Homme wears a little different on me, but the Parfum on my skin is in your face leather

Default A leather scent that is just that?

A straight up leather-scent, and yet no mention of Gucci Guilty Absolute? Let me change that, folks.

GGA is leather ALL THE WAY from start to finish. Dry and with absolutely no sweetness. Just leather!
With only 4 or 5 notes in it, GGA is made to be a linear leather-fragrance and it is really well done.

Ofcourse, Gucci is a mainstream brand, but still....if you want quality LEATHER all the way, GGA is really a no-brainer.....

GGA is a leather-scent that really is just that.

Oh, and did I mention LEATHER? Good!

For me the the most convincing leather is Xerjoff Homme

I agree with you Nick for the runners up. I've never tried the Montale, I'll have to get my nose on that one.

Excellent suggestions thus far, duly noted. What I'd like to say is that whilst it isn't exactly what I outlined in the OP Tom Ford Ombre Leather 18 actually comes quite close to the vibe I'm seeking as its the fragrance of leather and not a leather fragrance, if you get what I mean?

Worn it twice now and the second time was even better than the first. Imagine the leather accord from Tuscan Leather isolated and toned down, sprinkled with some spices floating over the top of a mere whiff of vanilla and you've got a pretty accurate picture of this one.

I also picked up Ferrari - Uomo and found that to be quite decent but not the type of leather I was after. Same with GGA, as much as I enjoy that juice it isn't it either.

Not purely leather, but it's very prominent in the dry down - Roja Dove Great Britain

+1 on several of these especially Bandit and Clubman Special Reserve also would like to add Everlast 1910, it has a soft leather that is not always prominent but it does show itself nicely
