    Default Ban All Fragrance?

It's not enough that certain ingredients be banned. Make way for the Nasal Nazis!

Sadly, I see the situation only becoming worse in the future for people who enjoy wearing fragrance.

Thank you for the link-assuming that either a compromise solution will be reached (with so many fragrance ingredients already being more or less outlawed/overly regulated) or failing that, some alternative (quite likely but not necessarily 100% grey-ish) markets will eventually appear, since there is simply no way to stop both the output of but even more importantly the demand for a multimillion and even multi-billion industry over night

I would also be worried if the shipping of fragrances (both ground and air) would be prohibited due to quote ''hazardous concerns'' also applied to online stores and fragrance brands. X-Ray of packaging contents - how long will it take before this becomes mandatory and enforced, here in the states as well as other technology advanced countries?

Most of the comments below that piece are anti-fragrance, which no longer surprises me - many, many people would like to see workplace, hospital, courthouse, concert and restaurant bans on perfume. I think it's likely to happen, though not overnight. Fragrance is a convenient scapegoat in a world fouled by countless pollutants and byproducts of every kind.

I think, from a medical perspective, a lot of this article is hyped up and super partisan. Hell, people with migraines can have light itself as a trigger, but I do not envision a successful campaign against Photons. Ban All the Things!

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned this is my 2nd amendment subset (B) rights...the right to "wear" fragrance.

Since this article does not provide a single reference to the so-called scientific evidence it refers to, l cannot take it seriously.

l think the dangers of plastic are a far more immediate threat to the planet.

Okay, I have to say this. The Daily Mail or as the Daily Hail as it is also known as(the owners thought Hitler was wonderful but then WWII broke out) are famous for their out there stories. Switch and bait they get paid each time anyone goes to the online site and clicks on a article to read.

All women are too thin, too fat, flashing their pins(yes really), or other body parts when just walking down the street, looking slutty if wearing too much makeup or ugly if wearing no makeup etc.

So basically a right-wing newspaper which likes to print scare stories for their readers tory voting middle England to get into a panic about. This or that is dangerous and will kill you, but then had articles which perfumes are the best etc.

Yeah, I think the cases where personal perfume is the culprit are vanishingly rare - though I suppose that's never stopped policymakers from dropping the ban-hammer in the past. Or vice versa.

My wife gets a skin rash from pretty much any scented laundry product, and many facial products (make-up, lotions) that aren't either fragrance free or labelled as hypoallergenic/for sensitive skin. It is 100% the fragrance compounds they use. Hotel bedding is the worst: she has to travel with her own pillow case, and sleep clothed so her skin doesn't touch the sheets. It's no joke; she'll get a nasty rash otherwise. I place those fragrances more in the industrial chemical category, and sadly, more and more designer scents are using them. So combine that with the addition to general paranoia about scents, and yeah, we're heading in a bad direction.

Never, ever has one of my fragrances (or hers, she wears scents too) caused a problem. But then, I avoid scents that use industrial sludge.

Oh, that is so sneaky! The "article" finishes with an explicit traditional ad (meaning to say it's not even separated) and then (in my browser, at least) the whole is labeled "ADVERTISEMENT".

    It's a frickin' infomercial!

Even though it's a bogus article, the sentiment it expresses is becoming mainstream. It's already the prevailing view in my community, where fragrance is strongly discouraged - in some cases, outright prohibited - in gyms, yoga studios, conference spaces, patient floors of the hospital, medical offices, restaurants and courtrooms.
