Default Fragrances that work well as Air Freshners

I've found that some fragrances work better as air fresheners in the bathroom or living room.

In the past few months, I used Light Blue, Insurrection Pure 2, Bulgari Atlantique, Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia.

What fragrances in your collection do you think smells better as an air freshener?

I sometimes use my Swiss Army and Curve (they're similar to my nose) for this purpose. On skin, they bore me pretty quickly, but as a room spray, you're more directly enjoying the bracing topnotes.

Another is L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eau Fraiche, for similar reasons.

Also, Florida Water and 4711 have long histories being used for home and body.

None in my collection, but a few I have received as gifts that I would never personally use made good bathroom air fresheners.

I love spritzing my curtains with Piguet Oud. It is hellishly strong, so I don't need much.
The scent basically isn't much about oud, but I get a strong, earthy cool patchouli and overdosed dark woody ambers.

Yes, I've always liked using a lot of my perfumes as room sprays/air fresheners too. I fully agree with "Light Blue" by Dolce & Gabbana. I don't actually own that one, but I own "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs EDT, and, to my nose, "Daisy" in the EDT has kind of a similar quality to "Light Blue." And, I have used the "Daisy" EDT as a room spray/air freshener for years. (I do actually wear it as a perfume too.)
Many of the Jo Malone fragrances are sold as candles, room sprays and diffusers too. I don't like all of them worn as perfume (although I like at least a couple of them) but I think I might still like some of them as candle scents maybe. "English Pear and Freesia", to my nose, doesn't smell like pear or freesia, BTW. It smells like rose or peony to me, and is very strong. (Either that or I have the wrong scent in my sample tube marked English Pear and Freesia.)

Some others that I own that I often enjoy spritzing into the air (even if I don't always wear them) are: "L'Eau D'Issey" by Issey Miyake (feminine version), Mediterranean Blue Waters from Bath and Body Works, "Twilight Woods" from Bath and Body Works (which is nearly identical to "Fancy" by Jessica Simpson), Fresh "Sugar Lemon" EDP and, I just spritzed right now is "Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin" body mist from Bath and Body Works, and that is really nice too.

PS: I remember one of my exes really liked Insurrection Pure II...I recall that one because I always thought it had a funny name! XD
I think one of them really liked at least one of the Jo Malone fragrances too..I think he liked it in a candle scent or something though..I can't remember now.

By the way..when I mentioned that "Light Blue" by D&G seems similar to "Daisy" EDT by Marc Jacobs, I was talking about the feminine version of "Light Blue." Not sure which one you were using, FSociety, lol! I just made a trip out to Sephora, and yes, the masculine version of "Light Blue" is completely different! It's really nice though! I also really like that one a lot, in the EDT. I found the more concentrated version of the scent a bit much (for me.) I also really enjoy "Insurrection Pure II" quite a lot as well! (Which I found at Perfume Warehouse.) I didn't care for Bvlgari "Aqva Pour Homme Atlantiqve" on the test strip, but in reality I think how I feel about that one might depend on the context I smell it in! lol I think I might like it on certain guys. TBH, I personally wouldn't use any of those as air fresheners! But that's just me and my personal taste. They all smell pretty squarely like something I would want to smell on a guy! They almost all make me think of certain things too much to just spritz them in the air and be okay with it, TBH. Especially the Bvlgari one for some reason!

After thinking about it, I think both versions of Light Blue make a good air freshener.

Props for checking out the other fragrances that I've mentioned!

    Oh sure! Thanks, no problem!
On a slightly different note, you know how there are occasionally guys that post on here and ask for men's fragrances that might be "P@#^y D%#*%#!$?" (I'm censoring that out because apparently we're not supposed to say it!) Today, I was browsing around and checked out some more men's fragrances like "Wanted by Night" from Azzaro and "Boss" by Hugo Boss, and I realized that for me the actual answer is: all of them! Almost all of them! XD Seriously, if I spend too much time smelling popular men's designer label brand fragrances, I just get really dirty thoughts in my head! XD They're almost all "P@!^y D*!@^%#rs!" *EDIT* I actually don't like the Azzaro one so much. I really regret having dropped the test strip in my purse!

BTW, FSociety, are you saying you like some of those fragrances as air fresheners because they don't have any animalic or slightly "dirty" or stinky notes in them?? Personally, I really enjoy wearing "fresh" smelling fragrances as perfumes, even though, yes, fresh scents usually work really well as room sprays too. Personally, I don't think that a "good" or "masculine" fragrance has to have that kind of stinky "body" kind of scent that a number of them have! (Azzaro "Wanted by Night" has it, and I detected it in the Bvlgari too. Quite frankly I didn't find that one to be aquatic or "fresh." It definitely has animalic notes.) I hope I'm not offending anyone with my opinion, I'm just saying that's all!

With the right imagination, I think any scent is a P#£+ty D#£&£r. It all depends on the context you use that term in. A few days ago, I was bored of smelling male designer scents so I tried a few female designer scents such as Ysl Mon Paris, Si line(Passione was my favourite), and Paloma Picasso. They all smelled pretty good and very similar to each other with a few variations. Paloma was the one that stood out to me because it was sort of an unusual scent but it was also alluring.

I'll have to agree with you on the Azzaro one: no offense to others but it smells bad.

Yes, I was inferring to that. I sprayed my sample of Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense in the bathroom and the animalic note made my bathroom smell very unusual. I'll just stick to fresh smelling scents for my air fresheners.

You made me reconsider my air freshener choices I'll try out a few female targeted designer scents to see how they smell in the air. Hopefully I can find a few that I really like because all of them smell good to me.

None I have would be better as air freshener imo, but some would render some nice smell to the air, like Eau de Cartier, Incense Oud, Avignon, Friends, Oud Ispahan, Eau des Minimes, CH Men...

I once purchased two perfumes which end up being bathroom air freshener:
    L’Ombre Dans L’Eau by Diptyque
    Inflorescence by Byredo

For me, L'ombre Dans L'eau is way too much astringent, like a bottle of red wine, advertised to be full-bodied, then you end up with a mouthful of pure tannin.

Inflorescence has something harsh, abrasive, strongly reminiscent of toilet disinfect —— which is how I used it.

I majorly <3 both "Paris" by Yves Saint Laurent (can't remember if I've tried "Mon Paris") and Armani "Si." I actually have not tried all the "Sis" though, lol! I only just realized how many of them there are when I just looked it up on Fragrantica! That original one must have been wildly popular! In any case, again, I really like the original Armani "Si." I can't recall what "Paloma Picasso" (by Paloma Picasso) for women smells like! I need to re-visit that one! (I really love the bottle though!) Interestingly, looked up the listed notes on Fragrantica, and it seems highly similar to the new T. Rex by Zoologist that's supposed to be released this Fall! I haven't actually smelled both though so I have no idea if they actually smell similar in reality. The note listing and pyramid structures look very similar though.

I dont use any as a room spray, but I use Belcam Acqua Di Gio impression as a bed and pillow spray, and freshen my curtains with it. Also use it in my vehicles to freshen them up. Works real good for that. I keep at least two bottles of it on hand. I also use their Sauvage impression as a pillow freshener sometimes, but I have to spray that one every day and the ADG every three days.

Caldey Island Lavender works much better as a air freshener than a personal scent. It's how I'm using my bottle at the moment.

"Neroli Sol" by Thymes really, really smells like a "fresh laundry" scent, or like air freshener. I really like it though. Neroli-Sol-Cologne-0400320107-360.jpg

The best thing I've tried by Byredo so far (in my humble opinion) is "Blanche." Although I liked their Tulip fragrance as well. I disliked a bunch of fragrances I tried from their line though.
